Punters have plunged on Winx to win the Cox Plate
The Cox Plate (2040m) is shaping up to be a match race between Winx and Hartnell but it has been the champion mare Winx that holds the bulk load of money with Sportsbet.com.au and according to the punters, Hartnell cannot beat Winx.
Winx is a firm $1.80 favourite and holds nine times more money than Hartnell.
The last start Caulfield Stakes (2000m) winner opened as the $2.10 favourite after the barrier draw but that was quickly taken with her price slashed into $1.90 and the flood of money since has seen her shorten further int0 $1.80. That has seen Hartnell ease $3.40 after touching $3.20 and bookmakers are willing to take him on.
“Our traders are happy to lay Hartnell and are offering top odds. He’s a great price, considering he has won his last three starts including a Group 1 win in the Turnbull Stakes. But Winx is a champion and the bulk of punters think she can win back-to-back Cox Plates,’’ said sportsbet.com.au’s Christian Jantzen.
Class mare Lucia Valentina got to a silly price of $21 after the barrier draw and has trimmed up to $19, while Yankee Rose has eased slightly to $16 after opening $14.
