A crack field has been assembled for the feature race at Rosehill this Saturday, the Group l Coolmore Classic (1500m).
Down below is a speed map, runner preview and $100 betting strategy for the 2025 Coolmore Classic.
2025 Coolmore Classic Runner Preview:
1. Amelia’s Jewel: Amelia’s Jewel is technically second up but really, she is first up. She won the Guy Walter first up, but it was a barrier trial, with J Mac getting complete control in front on her and it was a painless watch after 100m. She is the class of the field and class will carry her a long way.
2. Olentia: I think she’s overs in this race. Two barrier trials basically to start the prep and with her racing style, she just hasn’t been able to get involved. I think she gets a barrier where she can settle much closer in the run, do no work and be effective late. Knockout chance.
3. Alsephina: Big price for mine. She resumed in the Guy Walter behind Amelia’s Jewel and pretty much went around like it was a barrier trial. Badly held up in behind them and never saw clear air. B Shinn on, she’ll land in a plum spot and only run well.
4. Lady Shenandoah: Trialled like Black Caviar…but the gate…oh dear, it’s a nightmare, plus gets M Zahra, who is a rider I am struggling to back with confidence in these big races. He can win…but I’d rather watch.
5. Marble Arch: She’s flying this mare. But, I will say she had the Blamey on a platter last time and duly saluted in a race where some of her rivals weren’t there to play. Not well treated at the weights for mine and has a tricky draw to contend with.
6. Lady Of Camelot: She was brave as ever in the Surround. Landed on speed and fought hard in the straight but just couldn’t quite get there when nabbed late by Lady Shenandoah. The gate is tricky, but she should slide across…I just question her at a strong 1500m.
7. Coeur Volante: Hard to knock the way she won the Mannersim and gee aren’t those Blinkers a thing of beauty. She landed on the back of Grinzinger Belle and was never getting beat. Lands in a plum spot again and should only run well.
8. Grinzinger Belle: I think the each way play is clearly this girl. She resumed in the Mannerism three weeks ago at Caulfield when going very hard in front into the wind and that burn just told late, but she stayed on and was far from disgraced behidn Coeur Volante. She’ll lead, roll and take running down.
9. Firestorm: Got the right set up in the Millie Fox and finished best to win and win well. She does seem to react on the fresh side so three weeks between runs is fine and moved well in a tick over trial. Just not sure where she gets to from the draw.
10. Manaal: She hasn’t improved much from her 3YO season, but I will say, her run in the Surround was enormous. Four wide throughout yet kept finding the line and was a definite pass mark. But, I can’t see her threatening these.
11. Sounds Of Heaven: Just a run in the Guy Walter and not for me against these.
12. Elettrica: Has been freshened up since giving them a start and an absolute beating in the Sunny Coast Cup. She does have good change up speed when right but surely this is a bridge too far for her.
13. Scarlet Oak: I think she’s dangerous. She resumed in the Millie Fox where she looked half a run short but kept finding the line. Maps to get a suck run and right down in the weights, I think she’ll only run well.
14. Our Gold Hope: She’s flying this mare and would be $1.10 if they went to the Provincial Championships. Just not sure she is at this level but she is talented.

It looks as though Grinzinger Belle will get front end control here. She’ll spear across and lead. Sounds Of Heaven was on speed fresh in the Guy Walter but think they’ll ride with a sit. Coeur Volante had the back of Grinzinger Belle in the Mannerism and suspect they’ll get an identical sit. Lady Of Camelot should carve across from out wide.
