Brazilian Pulse has been the subject of a massive wager to win the Australian Oaks at Sportingbet Australia ahead of tomorrow’s Vinery Stud Stakes where the Michael Moroney trained filly is the $2.70 favourite.
Sportingbet Australia CEO Michael Sullivan said Brazilian Pulse had been well backed to win at Rosehill on Saturday but the Oaks plunge had been a lot bigger with one punter backing her to collect over $200,000.
“She had been well backed before today for the Oaks but she is out worst way by a huge margin now after one punter had $40,000 the win and $28,000 the place on her,†Sullivan said.
“She obviously has the form on the board having won the Wakeful and the Victorian Oaks in Melbourne before taking the Keith Nolan in impressive style in Sydney.
“She is into $4.60 for the Oaks now and she will only shorten with a good run on Saturday.â€
Sullivan said while Brazilian Pulse had been the best backed in the Vinery, there had been money for other runners as well.
“Do Ra Mi has been backed from $4.20 to $4.00 while there has also been money for Pinker Pinker at $7.50 and Fibrillation at $13,†he said.
In the Australian Oaks, Australian Guineas winner Shamrocker is on the second line of betting at $5.25 while the Peter Moody trained Lights of Heaven is at $6.00 following her domination of the Australasian Oaks.
“There are a number of Oaks chances and we should get a clearer picture tomorrow as Do Ra Mi should give a good form line for a number of the Victorian contenders,†Sullivan said.
“At this stage though, punters clearly think Brazilian Pulse is the one to beat.â€
