Bet One- Each Way- Narrandera Race One Number 4 Powerscourt:
He’s burned a few holes in my pockets throughout time but I reckon he finds a very winnable maiden here. Resumed over 1000m at Wagga where he was just off the speed three wide. Loomed to win the race but just ran out off puff late on the soft track behind Rock ‘N’ Roller, who I expect to run well later in the meeting. Looks to be a stack of speed here. Would love Prest to ease back for cover and have last say. Blinkers FT also a big, big tick.
Suggested Bet: $20 Win/$30 Place at $4.6 (Sportsbet)
Bet Two- Win- Narrandera Race Four Number 4 Rock ‘N’ Roller:
Wouldn’t be shocked if this horse reached Highway grade or was a sneaky chance for the Wagga heat of the Country Championships. Debuted in the race mentioned above and it was one of the more impressive debut wins you’ll see. Looked in a hopeless spot after a tardy beginning but finished off hard and got up to win. Doesn’t look to be an overly strong race here so I think he can go close.
Suggested Bet: $30 Win at $3.4 (Neds)
Bet Three- Each Way- Coffs Harbour Race One Number 2 Plectrum:
You’ll know your fate in the yard. My leaning is that he could well need the run given the Carnival is just under a fortnight away, but I think he has enough quality to beat these and Paul Smith can get them ready fresh. This bloke showed good promise in three runs last prep, including a dominant maiden win at this track/distance. Happy to be with him despite a couple of niggles.
Suggested Bet: $25 Win at $4.4 (Crownbet)
Bet Four- Each Way- Coffs Harbour Race Two Number 4 Little Ebony Vega:
Wowee, $26+ for this girl. Nobody saw the trial? I thought it was a lovely trial from this filly at Grafton, sitting midfield in the run before picking up nicely nearer the inside to run a closing third. This doesn’t look a strong maiden on paper and I think she’s certainly worth something on each way at the price.
Suggested Bet: $5 Win/$10 Place at $26/$7.5 (Sportsbet)
Bet Five- Win- Sunshine Caost Race Eight Number 7 Siliqua:
Made him the best of the day pretty much just purely based on the speed map. Tycoon Ace and Isis Magic only know one way to run- fast. Siliqua has gate two and though he can be tardy from the gates, I’d love him to hold the box seat. If he does, he wins. Trial was more than encouraging, loves the Sunny Coast and is a two time first up winner, plus he’s run sub 33 last 600m last prep at Ipswich. Any glimpse of that speed here and he’ll be too good.
Suggested Bet: $100 Win at $4.2 (Sportsbet)
Bet Six- Multi- Bendigo R1 Charlevoix, R2 Killarney Kid, R4 Kothu Rotti:
Charlevoix just has to jump and his flat speed will ensure he wins by a space. Killarney Kid has trialled over the jumps for a couple of years and looks a potential star. Similar to Charlevoix, just needs to jump clean and he’ll be winning. Kothu Rotti currently sits second behind Self Sense as the best hurdler in Australia but another dominant win here and that may change. 2/2 over the jumps and he has looked high class each time, most notably at Pakenham when winning by 12 under a hold. Zentangle is the huge query over the jumps with his NZ form being suspect when it comes to jumping but he has the Kevin Myers/Patrick Payne polish.
Suggested Bet: $30 Win (Tote)
Total Spend: $250
