Despite coming up with barriers 12 and 13 respectively, TAB customers have been keen to support Loving Gaby and Athiri to win Saturday’s Blue Diamond Stakes at Caulfield.
Loving Gaby, the $4.50 favourite for the Group One, remained steady in betting after coming up with gate 12 while Athiri, a $6 chance, didn’t budge either after drawing next to the filly in barrier 13.
Between the pair they are responsible for 33 percent of all bets on the race since the draw took place at 11am.
The fairer sex dominate TAB’s market with four of the first five in betting all fillies with the lone exception being I Am Immortal ($8).
“It seems as though the wide draws haven’t deterred our customers who are confident on the chances of Loving Gaby and Athiri,” TAB’s Andrew Georgiou said.
“The pair are easily the most popular runners since the draw was conducted a little over two hours ago. Lyre, another filly, is next best supported.
“If you consider money taken when the book was ‘All In’, Brooklyn Hustle holds the most and is our worst way while Loving Gaby is also a losing result for us.”
