Ohope Wins is the short priced favourite in Australian Oaks betting
The 2026 Australian Oaks (2400m) at Randwick looks a staying test that centres heavily around Ohope Wins, who heads the market despite a forgive run in the Vinery. She had excuses there—fresh, back in the field and forced into inferior ground—and shapes as a filly who will relish stepping up to 2400m with that run under her belt. Profoundly brings strong momentum off an impressive Adrian Knox win and looks the clear danger, while Soverato and Classic Gem both come through that same race with performances that suggest they can measure up with natural improvement.
From a betting perspective, it’s hard to go past Ohope Wins getting conditions to suit and the chance to atone in a race that looks ideal for her. Profoundly profiles as the main threat with her strong finishing burst and clear staying upside, while Soverato appeals as an each-way option after a run that should bring her right on. Overall, this looks a race where class and staying ability come to the fore, and Ohope Wins gets every chance to prove she’s the one to beat.
Down below is a speed map, runner preview and $100 betting strategy for the 2026 Australian Oaks.
2026 Australian Oaks Runner Preview:
1. Ohope Wins: Ohope Wins has to be given another chance. I thought she was a total forgive in the Vinery given she was fresh, back, forced out in the wider/inferior lanes and was never really likely but was still far from disgraced. Like her up to 2400m, fitter and if there is petrol in the tank, she’s clearly top seed.
2. After Summer: Near the speed in the Vinery and was brave in defeat, kept chasing…was she flattered somewhat by how the track played? Maybe.
3. Profoundly: Profoundly was a super winner of the Adrian Knox, giving them a start and a beating in an impressive performance, letting down with real purpose late to score. She gives every impression of eating up 2400m and is a clear threat.
4. Soverato: I am not dismissing Soverato. She was several weeks between and coming off a soft 1500m run into the 2000m of the Adrian Knox. She loomed to win and hit the front but just felt the pinch late. That run should bring her right on and she has to be an each way speck.
5. Long Legs: Close up in the Vinery but did have her chance. Not sure she’ll run 2400m.
6. Stand My Ground: I think she’ll run the trip no issue…whether she does it fast enough is another matter. But, she likely leads them up and will give a sight at a price.
7. Classic Gem: Massive in defeat in the Adrian Knox given she was wide no cover. Needs to raise the bar but off the last start effort, I say she’s in the mix here.
8. Queen Of Clubs: Has been hopeless this time in and suspect that will continue.
9. Satono Invader: Placed in the Adrian Knox and was pretty good late without threatening. She’ll run well but think she needs to improve too much.
10. La Morra: Reckon if she went to Brisbane she’d more than hold her own. Just not up to this level.
11. Mountain Queen: I want to say she’s a knockout because she has been crying out for a dry deck and 2400m…I doubt she wins, but can run first four.
12. Dance With Destiny: Nice filly, in the right camp, but needs to find a maiden.
2026 Australian Oaks $100 Betting Strategy:
$40 Win Ohope Wins and Profoundly, $20 Win Soverato.

2026 Australian Oaks Speed Map
After Summer sat on speed in the Vinery and suspect will do similar here, but Stand My Ground does look your leader. Outside that pair, the rest like to sit back with cover, so I don’t see the tempo being overly hot.
