2023 All Aged Stakes Speed Map
There are several horses who will be handy, but in terms of an actual leader, I think Zaaki will get control, and comfortably. Electric Girl won’t want to get into a war with him so I dare say she opts for cover and of those drawn wide, Bandersnatch, Mazu and Lost And Running will slide forward.
2023 All Aged Stakes Runner Preview:
1. Zaaki: I took $8 for 1 Zaaki Pre Noms last weekend because I just couldn’t believe he was that price. At his best, he has claims to being one of the best horses in Australia. He hasn’t raced since a dominant all the way win in the Champions Stakes during Cup Week at Flemington. He wasn’t 100% early on in the Autumn so the stable have kept him on ice and his trial last week here on the Poly, gee it was a nice piece of work, and a big lead for me is J Mac chose him over Jacquinot, and keep in mind when he has ridden the horse, the record is 9: 8-1-0. Good enough for me.
2. Lost And Running: Lost And Running is an absolute beauty for John O’Shea that has the most upside of those who have kicked off their prep. He resumed in the TJ Smith and I thought his run was one of the best of the beaten brigade. He was wide throughout and looked gone on the turn, but he picked up and was very good to the line and a huge pass mark behind I Wish I Win. Yet to tick the 1400m box but IMO that will be no issue, he’ll land on speed and take beating.
3. Private Eye: Lucky to stay on his feet in the TJ Smith and was pretty much eased down the last 400m. Gun 1400m horse who likes wet ground and maps to get a soft run. He can improve out of sight.
4. Cascadian: Fascinating set up. Was down to run last Saturday in the QEll off his Australian Cup triumph but connections said no and wanted to wait for this race and try to defend his crown from last year. He’ll run a beauty…but 2000m-1400m has to be a genuine query.
5. Mazu: Ripping horse. He tried his guts out in the TJ Smith but found a couple better in I Wish I Win and Giga Kick. Unknown at 1400m but is one of the better Randwick wet trackers in training and if they press forward, he’ll get a good run in transit.
6. Bandersnatch: Got his win in the Doncaster Prelude before a down the track in the big one a week later and to me, that was an end of prep run. Can’t entertain him here.
7. Ho O Amazon: The only vision of work I’ve seen with him was last week when working alongside Unicorn Lion and legitimately, he looked like he would struggle to win a maiden at Taree. That could be him, he could be a lazy trackworker, but off his form, he’s right in the mix and is 2/2 on wet ground.
8. Kolding: $201 is unders.
9. Roch N Horse: Weather will determine how strong her winning claims are. If the rain misses and this track stays in the soft range, she’s a knockout hope because her run in the William Reid was enormous and she is racing like 1400m suits. But, if the rain arrives and we are on a heavy track, I’m treating her as a scratching.
10. Electric Girl: Dry track or bust for her. Won’t get a dry track here, so I’ll pass on her.
11. Jacquinot: Whatever way connections spin it, J Mac chose Zaaki over this guy from their respective trials last week. Visually, Zaaki went better in his respective trial, and obviously felt better given J Mac elects to ride him over this colt. This could be his Australian swansong so they would love to go out with a win. The wet track is a big query.
12. Giga Kick: Giga Kick gives the impression that 1400m would be no issue and now seems the right time to try it. I thought he was outstanding in the TJ Smith. He was ridden more forward than usual by Purton and I thought he ran a super race in defeat, just proving no match late for I Wish I Win. He is only third up so he has good room for improvement, he has change up speed, he handles a shifty Randwick surface…only runs well.
2023 All Aged Stakes $100 Betting Strategy:
