A strong field has been assembled for the Alice Springs Cup (2000m) this afternoon, where Hasseltoff dominates betting.

1. Hasseltoff: Has absolutely flown sine coming to this part of the world after being with Phillip Stokes. His win last time here…it had to be seen to be believed, the start he spotted them and the way he charged late…so impressive. 2000m is the query, he’s topweight…he can win, but even money is too short.

2. Write Your Name: He has that sense of timing about him. He won over 1900m here last time, getting a beaut run in transit and finished best to score. He won this race two years ago and looks on track to run well in it again.

3. Hadouken: I thought he ran a super race in defeat behidn Hasseltoff, doing work but he stayed on really well. Wide draw, but should slide across easily, he’s got enormous upside, quality…he is a great each way gamble.

4. Exalted Fire: Placed in this race last year and is back for redemption. He is back off a win at Morphettville Parks when strong to the line in getting the job done. He has to be respected as one of the key prospects.

5. Kangaroo Court: He has a good racing style but the end of 1600m is a query with him so with that in mind, 2000m at this level seems a bridge too far. Happy to ignore.

6. Crown Waters: She is a mare on the up but first look at 2000m at this level and drawn tricky, not entertaining her.

7. Venting: He won the race last year but isn’t firing at all this time so he goes through to the keeper.

8. Funnyifitwon: SCR

9. Hettinger: Ran well in the race last year. He’ll be spotting them a start but I just don’t think he’s up to these.

10. Altar Boy: He can go forward but is a strong miler. 2000m is different gravy, as is this class of race.

11. He’s Maverick: He ran second to Write Your Name in the race mentioned above. He was on speed and tried hard, just not quite seeing it through. He goes through to the keeper.

12. Isolyfe: Rank outsider and rightfully so. Not for me here.

$20 Win/$80 Place Hadouken.

Isolyfe looks the early leader and should get across. In turn, that should allowed Hadouken to slide over with him and that pair potentially get front end control. Hasseltoff has versatility re racing pattern but can get back, as seen last time. Kangaroo Court is a go forward type.
