A quality field has been assembled for the 7 Stakes (1600m) this Saturday at Randwick, with Fangirl dominating the market.
Down below is a speed map, runner preview and $100 betting strategy for the 2025 7 Stakes.
2025 7 Stakes Runner Preview:
1. Ceolwulf: He’s a good horse. But he’s not top shelf. Had every chance in the Chelmsford but I thought he was quite plain late given how good he was first up. He showed last start that he can’t use an inside gate to advantage…if he wins, too good, but I am opposing.
2. Light Infantry Man: Track was too wet in the Winx. Freshened up and really liked the way he has trialled since. Firmer deck, he’s a proven big time performer and $51+ is insanity.
3. Private Eye: Had front end control and the pattern in his corner last start in the Tramway, only getting nabbed late by Pericles. Lobs outside Lindermann, they’ll control the speed…he’ll run an honest race. Just not sure he is good enough.
4. Royal Patronage: First up at the mile signals intent. GaiBott trained galloper that hasn’t raced since the Champions Mile at Hong Kong when outclassed. Couple of trials under the belt, he can press forward and has flown fresh previously.
5. Gringotts: IMO, he’d be suited to The Everest. I know all his form is at 1400m-1600m, but there is enough body of work to say at the top level, the distance range is a bridge too far. Maps perfect, will get every chance…but IMO, not good enough.
6. Lindermann: Lindermann got conditions to suit in the Chelmsford but credit to him, he took advantage, led and was there to be run down but he found under pressure to fend them off and score. Looks to get the front once again and will take running down.
7. Kovalica: Somewhat of a sleepy ride from Zac at Randwick last time, conceding too much early ground to Changingoftheguard. More positive ride this time around, he’ll take beating.
8. Militarize: Militarize should appreciate getting to the mile. He resumed two weeks back in the Tramway. He got off speed and kept chasing with purpose without threatening behind impressive winner Pericles. Not sure he is good enough to win but is a must for exotics.
9. Kadavar: Ambulance may beat him home.
10. Half Yours: Dare say he runs in the Naturalism.
11. Fangirl: Fangirl is a few weeks between runs for Chris Waller since resuming in the Memsie at Caulfield. Not sure she was 100% happy around the tighter track but she kept on and was a definite pass mark in defeat. Fitter and up in trip, back to where she races best, she’s the one to beat, and clearly.

2025 7 Stakes Speed Map
Gringotts and Lindermann look the main speed influences, with Lindermann looking the leader with Gringotts tagging him. Royal Patronage will settle handy, potentially landing 1/1 with Private Eye lobbing outside the speed. Ceolwulf has drawn well. Can he use the gate to advantage? And where does Fangirl get to from gate five with J Mac on.
