After failing last start the 3YO son of Umatilla has won today’s headline race the 2011 Stradbroke Handicap at Eagle Farm racecourse ahead of the the gallant ‘Beaded’ in second position and Zero Rock in third.
Three-year-old Sincero bounced back from his abject flop as favourite last week to take out the Group One $1 million Stradbroke Handicap at Eagle Farm on Saturday.
Trained by Stephen Farley at Wyong on the NSW Central Coast, Sincero was having just his 13th start and notched his ninth win to take his prizemoney past the $1 million mark.
The son of Umatilla failed to fire in last week’s Group Two QTC Cup (1300m) at Eagle Farm but, aided by a polished ride from Jason Taylor, was too good for his opposition in the 1400m Stradbroke.
Taylor settled Sincero midfield and the gelding was poised to pounce as the field wheeled for home.
Doomben 10,000 winner Beaded dashed past Zero Rock to take the lead in the straight but Sincero wore her down to score well.
Beaded fought on strongly for second and Zero Rock held on for third.
