Trix Of The Trade confirmed the thoughts of connections earlier in the year with a Railway Stakes (1600m) triumph at Ascot on Saturday, with the owners knocking back a $1 Million Hong Kong offer in the Autumn.

Read on for the 2022 Railway Stakes Post Race Horse Ratings.

2022 Railway Stakes Replay

2022 Railway Stakes Race Horse Ratings

1. Trix Of The Trade: If this was a Cerise/White horse and W Pike was steering, you’d say this was an outstanding ride. And it was a ride and a half from Troy Turner. Got into a three/four wide with cover spot and was trucking. Just a matter of getting clear air and once he got it, his turn of foot came to the fore and he was much too good.

Rating: 9/10

2. Comfort Me: Wide no cover the trip and really, was entitled to knock right up and finish last, but he had the hide to keep finding the line and was only beaten by a horse who had a much better in transit. Great effort in the Railway again.

Rating: 8/10

3. Startrade: Had the back of the eventual winner and just couldn’t dash when he needed to but eventually got clear and found the line well enough to claim third off Resortman. Massive result for connections.

Rating: 7.5/10

4. Resortman: Drew gate one and did no work, which offset the 1600m query. Loomed to place 200m out but didn’t attack the line and had to settle for a gutsy fourth.

Rating: 6.5/10

5. Last Of The Line: Massive effort. Back, came widest on the turn and on paper, was tracking the right horse in Alaskan God, but he was going nowhere. He was excellent from the back.

Rating: 7.5/10

6. Treasured Star: Flattering run maybe? Bludged back in the run on the fence, tracked up without spending petrol tickets and drove hard late. Visually, the flashing light run, and he was good, but I’d say a touch flattered.

Rating: 6/10

7. God Has Chosen: Four wide the trip and gee he was brave. Looked gone on the turn but he found again and was good to the line. I’d be thinking he’s a Perth Cup horse. Wait til he gets to 2000m+.

Rating: 6/10

8. Searhin Rocs: Wasn’t able to use the good draw. I had her mapped much closer in the run but she got shuffled back and was just never a factor. I’d be forgiving of her effort.

Rarting: 4/10

9. Kaptain Kaos: Had a suck run on the fence tracking the speed, followed through behind Resortman and found the line well enough without threatening. He’s on track for something easier.

Rating: 4/10

10. Alaskan God: Three and four wide cover for the trip, he was there to pounce on the turn, but gee I thought he was pretty plain late and weak on the line, so there has to be a huge query on him being a Northerly contender.

Rating: 2/10

11. Marocchino: Did some work to find the front but some level of control mid race. But he just didn’t have the dash in the legs to go with them late and finished down the track.

Rating: 1/10

12. Ironclad: Had a good run in transit off the main bunch and tried to take gaps to threaten, but he wasn’t going anywhere fast and just plugged late. Perhaps struggled on the back up.

Rating: 2/10

13. Karli’s Karma: Got into a lovely spot behind the speed and was tracking up nicely. But when push came to shove, she couldn’t show that customary turn of foot and was plain late. Great prep has come to an end.

Rating: 2/10

14. Notorious One: Three and four wide the trip, without cover, a total forgive and just forget he went around.

Rating: 1/10

15. Buster Bash: Has run well on the back up before so I won’t be using that as an excuse. Perhaps did too much work to get on speed but I’d be clutching at straws to use that as an excuse.

Rarting: 1/10

16. Yonkers: Beaten horse before the turn so I think the vet may find something post race.

Rating: 0/10
