Unbeaten mare Black Caviar has made it thirteen straight victories in today’s BTC Cup at Doomben racecourse ahead of Hay List in second position and Buffering in third.
Black Caviar confirmed her standing as genuine wonder horse with her QTC Cup win at Doomben on Saturday.
In a replica of her last-start TJ Smith Stakes victory at Randwick, Black Caviar had to call on all of her brilliance to overhaul Hay List in the 1200m Group One sprint.
As she relegated Hay List into second place once again, Black Caviar stretched her unbeaten sequence to 13 wins.
A huge crowd packed Doomben to watch the world’s best racehorse join Hay List in the lead at the 150m mark before asserting her superiority.
But for a brief moment in the straight, it appeared Hay List could have had her measure.
Jockey Luke Nolen had Black Caviar stalking Hay List and Buffering before he eased the mare out three-wide to make a challenge.
But just as she did in Sydney last month, Black Caviar scrambled around the home turn, allowing Hay List to pinch a break.
Once she became balanced Black Caviar recovered to quickly make up the deficit and the four-year-old was able to draw clear for a decisive two-length victory.
Buffering held on to finish third – almost five lengths further astern.
Black Caviar will have her next start in the Doomben 10,000 in a fortnight.
