Wymark produced a terrific last 200 metres on the clock on Saturday and Trav Noonan reckons he can win again during this summer period

Caulfield Heath was the racecourse that held Saturday Metropolitan Racing on Saturday and the track was typical of summer racing being firm and leaders being at an advantage. The fence was clearly the spot in run and I would be forgiving of horses that had to make their run out wider on the course.
Below is our look at a few horses’ worth following on what they produced on the clock on the weekend and those to be cautious of.

Race 2- Wymark 1st (Nay Blue, Gold Hoops, White Sleeves)
Been out of the winners’ circle for a long time this bloke but he did win a Tulloch Stakes at Group 2 level and start $6.50 in the Australian Derby won by Riff Rocket in 2024, that also featured Ceolwulf and Tom Kitten, so there was denying that this bloke has talent.
He got a dream run here on the fence which was the spot to be but he won well and sprinted fast, running his last 200m in 11.52 seconds (2nd quickest of the day) in a race that was run very stop, start but did have a good overall time relative to the track pars.
No reason he can’t keep winning if he shows this turn of foot in races over the summer months.

Race 3- Seafall 5th (Black Silks)
This race was run to suit those on speed with it being slow early and then a gradual build up from the 400m. Seafall was back and in traffic and never really was allowed to build momentum but her final sections were very good, her last 200m of 11.56 seconds was the clear sharpest of the race and was the fifth quickest of the meeting.
Big track similar grade and clear room she can make her presence felt on the way she finished here.

Race 8- Steel Move 2nd (Royal Blue Silks)
Gin A Tonic completely controlled from the front here and dictated this contest but was some good runs in behind, notably Steel Move who finished off strongly running his last 400m in 22.70 seconds and was really attacking the line once he balanced up in the straight, as he didn’t corner the tight Heath track turn all that well.
This horse is back in the zone this preparation after a strong win prior at Ballarat and has evidenced he has great straight-line speed. I’d be keen to follow him on a bigger track next start especially the Flemington straight course.

BE CAUTIOUS
Race 5- Magic Millions 2yo VIC Classic 1100m won by Unit Five
He won this race well and looked professional Unit Five doing it but the times are a bit underwhelming.
His last 200m was good for the day running 11.80 seconds which was the 19th best of the day but he was entitled to sprint home fast given he controlled the race at a slow pace and was on the fence which was clearly the spot to be.
Overall time for the 1100m was also on the slow side for the Track Par’s, some 6 lengths below the average for that distance.
He might still be a good talent Unit Five and with more pressure he could produce much more as this was relatively effortless, but the substance wasn’t there on the clock to get too carried away. I’d be heavily against those that finished in behind him next start though as this race hasn’t rated well.
