Late nomination Globe has a doubt hanging over him ahead of the Cox Plate at Moonee Valley.

The Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr-trained Globe is under a Cox Plate cloud with ‘irritation’ to a fetlock joint.

Connections of Globe paid a $200,000 late entry fee after the gelding’s latest win in the Might And Power (2000m) at Caulfield to get the seven-year-old into the Cox Plate (2040m) at Moonee Valley on Saturday in which he has drawn barrier seven.

Globe underwent a Sleip Test on Monday, comparing video from a previous time, which Racing Victoria vets said was likely to rule the galloper out of Saturday’s weight-for-age contest.

“He had to do a Sleip test yesterday, which is a video of their action,” Price told racing.com.

“RV contacted ‘Junior’ yesterday and said on half of the Sleip test, the horse wouldn’t pass.

“I’ve contacted the owners and let them know.”

Price said Globe was sent to the beach on Tuesday morning and would return to the beach again on Wednesday in a bid to have Globe right to run.

However, Price said he would not hesitate to withdraw the gelding from Saturday’s race if he was not 100 per cent happy with Globe.

He said RV vets would head to his Cranbourne stable later in the week for an inspection.

“They’ll (RV vets) come Thursday, have a look at it, they might come Friday, they might leave it until Saturday morning,” Price said.

“The horse does have an irritation in the off-front fetlock, and I will say if the horse is not right, I’m not going to run him.

“He’s only had 15 starts and he would be a beautiful Sydney horse in the autumn.

“We x-rayed it and its bone clean, but the joint capsule has an irritation where it joins on to the bone.

“It’s more a soft tissue thing, but if the horse is not 100 per cent on Saturday morning, then he won’t run.”
