The biggest ever bet has been taken on Winx to win her last ever run in today’s Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Randwick.
The TAB has reported they have just received the biggest ever bet taken on Winx or any other horse with one punter placing $550,000 on the Champion mare at odds of $1.06 to collect a profit of $33,000.
Bookmakers across the country have been smashed by punters backing the mare to win her last ever start with Ladbrokes also reporting a bet of $374,000.
“The $550,000 wager at $1.06 on Winx clearly eclipses the biggest TAB Fixed Odds win bet ever placed and that was a $345,000 bet at $1.05 on Winx seconds before the barriers opened for the George Ryder Stakes at Rosehill Gardens on March 23,” TAB’s Trent Langskaill said.
“Even though there are 40 minutes until the running of the Queen Elizabeth Stakes, $3.2 million has been placed on Winx to win her last race, which has already surpassed the $3.104 million wagered on her to win last October’s Cox Plate at Moonee Valley.”
