Serene Majesty has added to a profitable homecoming for Peter and Paul Snowden in winning the Inglis 3YO Guineas at Scone.

The father-and-son training team won the Scone Cup on Friday with Pajaro and the stable parlayed its success into a another significant result in Saturday’s $400,000 Guineas.

It was sweet revenge for the filly’s owners after Serene Majesty ran third to Spill The Beans in the Hawkesbury Guineas when Paul Snowden said there were excuses.

“She was up on the speed at Hawkesbury which is not her go, she was on the inside and she over-raced,” Snowden said.

Serene Majesty, owned by the same syndicate which raced Black Caviar, finished hard down the centre to catch the favourite Spill The Beans who had attempted to lead for most of the race.

Spill The Beans ($1.90) fought back but Serene Majesty ($5) lunged to win by a short head with the well-backed Kimberley Star ($9) 1-1/4 lengths away third.

Snowden said he was unsure if Serene Majesty would continue her campaign.

“She has been up for a little while and it is tempting to go to Brisbane and chase more black type but there are some nice early spring races as well that suit her,” he said.

Snowden admitted it had taken him several hours to familiarise himself with Scone racecourse even though he was born and bred in the town.

“I came back to Scone four years ago to see my grandmother but it is eight years since I have been to the racecourse and I have had to work out where everything is,” he said.
