A set of six barrier trials were run and won on the Cranbourne Synthetic on Monday, and while the depth might not have been strong, there were a couple of performances worth mentioning. Find out down below who caught our eye the most.

Cranbourne- Monday, July 6, Weather Overcast, Track Synthetic.

Heat One- Capital City (2nd):

Unraced filly for Robbie Griffiths who looked pretty good here in this trial. She sat on speed most of the way and looked the winner of the trial throughout in the straight, but she couldn’t put them away and was beaten late to finish second. Still, nice piece of work and she has talent.

Heat Three- Absolutely Famous (4th):

Local filly for Doug Harrison who hasn’t raced since March when finishing tailed off last behind subsequent city performer Carashan Girl. Spelled, and trialled here, and I thought she went pretty good. She sat behind the leader most of the way before peeling and wasn’t asked to extend by Patrick Keane in the straight. Could have finished closer, but nonetheless, it was pretty good.

Heat Four- Anare (2nd):

Talented mare that had two starts this time last year, winning on debut at Swan Hill before placing on the Geelong Synthetic. This was her first public appearance since then and she looked well within herself. Sat behind the tearaway winner most of the way and while that horse bolted clear, this mare was under a good hold from Nathan Punch and look good in running second.
