10/8/2013 Horse Racing Tips & Best Bets – Randwick, Missile Stakes day

Randwick will host Saturday’s premier race meeting in New South Wales in which we see the running of the Group 3 Missile Stakes and the Listed The Rosebud which along with it brings the feeling that Spring is just around the corner.

The current track condition is a Heavy 8 although there is no rain expected today or tomorrow so this should be upgraded into the slow range.

Race One: S. Montgomerie Tribute (bm64) 1400m Form Guide

Back Me: Canossa is a first start for Chris Waller who will be ridden by Nash Rawiller. The daughter of Haradasun has found a very winnable race first up and will be fit after three trials before this run.
Don’t Back Me: Streaking Comet won a weak maiden at Kembla Grange on debut before a second at Canterbury last start. This doesn’t look a strong race but i wouldn’t be taking the $1.85 on offer.
Big Danger: Pinball Dawn ran wide throughout his first start but wasn’t beaten far in third. Looked like he had plenty of talent when trialling and she finds a winnable race on Saturday.
Roughie: Price War found herself in two good races at Newcastle at her previous two starts and she wasn’t beaten too far on each occasion. Should improve here and at big odds must be included.

Race Two: Gary Robert Mara (bm84) 2600m Form Guide

Back Me: Lucripetous hit the line well last start which was won by Iggi Pop who will likely start as favourite here. He will get a wet track which will help him and the increase in distance will suit.
Don’t Back Me: Diamond Jim won well last start but at Randwick he has been unplaced at every start from six attempts and i doubt he can turn that around on Saturday in a race that looks like the favourites will fight out.
Big Danger: Iggi Pop was dominate when winning last start in a good form race. He is weighted well with the claim from Sam Clipperton and will be hard to beat again.
Roughie: Martinvast is a lightly raced stayer who will improve from his last run. Drops 5kg in this race and will get a good run from barrier 5 and should be right in the finish at good odds of $13.

Race Three: Sportsyear (bm85) 1200m Form Guide

Back Me: Next The Universe will be dropping back in distance here which is a bit of a surprise but her last start she raced impressively and she gets in the weights very well here. Will sit mid field from barrier 3 and Pumper will give her every chance.
Don’t Back Me: Lilliburlero will be having her first start back from what was a good Queensland campaign despite not winning a race. She is a very talented galloper but i think first up over 1200m against some race fit runners she is a risk.
Big Danger: Hidden Kisses hit the line really well last start and looked like she would be in the winners stall soon. She goes up in the weights here and although she meets Folonica worse at the weights i think she has a very good chance in this race on Saturday.
Roughie: Style gets into the race with 54kg with the claim and im guessing they may go forward with her in this race. She is lightly raced so there is plenty of improvement in her and she is one of the chances in this small field.

Race Four: Sydney City Toyota (bm80) 1100m Form Guide

Back Me: Whitlam is a quality horse and despite having to carry a big weight he finds a much easier field than what he has been racing against lately. He will get all of the favours from barrier 1 and will be hard to hold out.
Don’t Back Me: Field Marshall didn’t really handle a rain affected track at his only try on one which concerns me a little in a small field of proven horses in the wet so im happy to bet around him here.
Big Danger: Mount Nebo blew the jump last start but still won impressively. He meets a similar quality field here and if he can jump well he will be hard to beat.
Roughie: Butt I’m Ready is a hard horse to catch but on his day he is capable of winning a race like this and with the minimum weight he may be able to put in a big run on Saturday in a favourite orientated race.

Race Five: Mcgrath Real Est. Missile Stks 1200m Form Guide

Back Me: Rain Affair last preparation was super impressive despite getting a win. He ran some very good horses to small margins in Group 1 races and looks the winner in this race on Saturday.
Don’t Back Me: Mic Mac has been racing quite well this preparation although i don’t think he is anywhere near the level he has to be to beat a horse like Rain Affair on Saturday.
Big Danger: Atomic Force didn’t do much last start when fresh but he drops weight here and will be much better suited. Has handled a wet track in the past and if there is good speed on he will be finishing well at $17.
Roughie: Centennial Park always races well fresh and if there is a speed battle which could happen between Title and Rain Affair it could set it up for a runner from the back and he will be a big chance if thats the case which makes the $19 look a decent each way bet.

Race Six: The Rosebud 1200m Form Guide

Back Me: Bull Point had to do it tough when racing wide last start but proved way too good for the rest of the field when winning well. He looked as if he will take a lot from that run and if so he will be winning on Saturday against a good field.
Don’t Back Me: Watabout has won her last three starts impressively although i think this class of field is a big step up and with 58kg against some very good colts im happy to risk her on Saturday.
Big Danger: Eurozone won the last encounter against Bull Point although he was given a much better run in that race. I think the placings will be reversed here but they look the two who will fight it out.
Roughie: Dissident ran in some very good race during the Autumn and will be having his first start back on Saturday. Should have improved from that preparation and if he can handle the track he could be the blow out horse to beat the favourites at $15.

Race Seven: Calcoup Knigtwear (bm85) 1600m Form Guide

Back Me: Punch Your Weight hit the line very well last start and the step up in distance should suit him perfectly. Has won twice from two starts in slow going overseas so will handle the conditions and at $13 looks a very good bet.
Don’t Back Me: The Great Snowman looked beaten last start before Nash got him up on the line. Steps up in distance from that run which i think is a worry, others look better suited over the distance.
Big Danger: Prince Cheri is a lightly raced import who was super impressive when hitting the line well to win on debut in Australia. The slight step up in distance will suit and he has handled a wet track before and looks a very talented runner heading into the Spring.
Roughie: Bugaboo jumped awkwardly last start and had no chance of winning after that but wasn’t beaten far. She will be backed up from last saturday and if she can jump with them she will be right in the finish.

Race Eight: Tab.com.au (bm85) 1400m Form Guide

Back Me: Burbero has had no luck at his past two start where he has been pocketed away without a run in both of them. He has proven he is a very good galloper and is due for some luck on Saturday.
Don’t Back Me: Eigelstein won well last start although he has drawn poorly on Saturday and with the big weight he connections have opted for a 3kg claimer. From a wide barrier with a 3kg claimer and against a big field im willing to risk him.
Big Danger: Gangster’s Choice always races well fresh which he is on Saturday and im expecting that good record to continue on Saturday where he looks a big danger to our on top selection.
Roughie: Samui Lad was slowly away last start then raced wide throughout the run. If he can put everything together on Saturday i think he has a good chance at $51.
