Premier Brisbane jockey Chris Munce was in Sydney to put All Too Hard through his paces on Friday ahead of a possible George Main Stakes start for the high-profile colt.
Munce made the trip to ride the Nathan Tinkler-owned three-year-old to second in a 1200m barrier trial at Warwick Farm.
He gave the close relation to unbeaten mare Black Caviar his seal of approval.
“He trialled well, I thought,” Munce said.
Co-trainer Michael Hawkes said a decision on whether All Too Hard races in Saturday week’s George Main, and who would ride him, would be left to his father John.
“That’s something that Dad can decide on,” Hawkes said.
Munce is a lightweight jockey and All Too Hard would carry just 50.5kg if the Hawkes team and Tinkler decide to go to the weight-for-age Group One George Main Stakes (1600m) at Randwick.
“We wanted to see how he trialled today, see where he’s at and see how he pulls up, then decide where we go,” Hawkes said.
All Too Hard was a notable absentee from this weekend’s Group One Golden Rose (1400m).
Last year’s Golden Rose winner Manawanui also stepped out at the trials and finished second to McClintock over 800m.
Trainer Ron Leemon has pencilled in a return at Randwick on Saturday week over 1200m.
“If he does all right over the weekend I’ll nominate him for The Shorts and have a look at that,” Leemon said.
