Connections have Golden Slipper aspirations for the Gerald Ryan-trained Snitzerland who resumed with an impressive victory in the $250,000 Inglis Premier at Mornington.

Snitzerland continued the good fortune of Sydney-based Neil Werrett, the part-owner of superstar Black Caviar, whose Werrett Bloodstock Pty Ltd races Wednesday’s winner with Encompass Bloodstock.

The daughter of Oakleigh Plate winner Snitzel is not among the nominations for the $1 million Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on Saturday week and a $55,000 late entry fee would have to be paid to put her into the race.

But Werrett said the Golden Slipper was the ultimate target for the filly this autumn.

Ridden by Corey Brown, Snitzerland ($2.10 fav) raced away in the straight and did it easily to score by 4-1/2 lengths from Road Trippin ($21) with Repousser ($7.50) 1-1/2 lengths away third in the 1200m event.

“When she trialled the other morning, Corey said it was a very good trial and I spoke to Gerald about bringing her to this race,” Werrett said.

“I thought it would be a good race for her to get on the board and the prizemoney Inglis put up was phenomenal.

“We actually paid for the horse with the winnings ($145,000) today.

“I’d like to thank Mick Malone for picking the horse out. We were the losing bidder to Gerald and he went and bought her off Gerald.

“I’m very happy that it all worked out.”

Snitzerland was narrowly touched off by Applegate when runner-up in the Listed Emirates Airlines Plate (1000m) at Flemington on Melbourne Cup day last spring which was her only other race start.

“I don’t think she’s as good as Black Caviar but they are going to have a lot of fun with her,” Brown said.

“She actually surprised me today, she’s a bit better than what I thought.

“I’ve been on her a few times in trackwork and last time in a trial and she really impressed me.

“She’s still got a long way to go, she’s still learning, she walked out of the barriers today and missed it by about a length but she gets into gear pretty quick.

“Straightening for home when I got a bit of pressure from the outside she panicked for about 25 metres like she doesn’t know what she’s doing with herself.

“But once she finds that extra gear and she levels out she’s got a great turn of foot.”

Snitzerland is in to $17 for the $3.5 million Golden Slipper (1200m) at Rosehill on April 7 with TAB Sportsbet which has Raceway $6 favourite ahead of Samaready at $9.

Samaready is $2.30 favourite for the Blue Diamond ahead of Jimando and No Looking Back at $9.
