South Australia will get to see the world’s best in Black Caviar for the first time this Saturday at Morphettville when she contests the $400,000 Group One Sportingbet Classic (1200m). Once again, it should be a stroll in the park for the mighty mare as she heads towards the Goodwood Handicap (1200m) and then onto Royal Ascot.
The other Group One at the track is the $400,000 Schweppes Oaks (2000m) with the money sure to be coming for Rahveel, who was most unlucky last start and still has plenty of scope for improvement. Crucial, Gioe and Kasumi will be her dangers.
The rest of the feature races are the $175,000 Group Two Panasonic Queen Of The South Stakes (1600m), the $115,000 Group Three Evright.com D C McKay Stakes (1100m), the $115,000 Group Three Chairman’s Stakes (2000m), and the $80,000 Listed Dequetteville Stakes (1100m).

Back Me: Going for Eraset. Sat deep at Flemington and toughed it out strongly for second behind Mawingo, which reads well for this. Hard to beat.
Don’t Back Me: Rivers Lane has to get an easy lead to win. He won’t get that here.
Big Danger: Prince Of Capers had the perfect trail, but was just no match for Cellarmaster at Oakbank. He has a tricky barrier, but he should still be in the finish.
Roughie: Cosmic Causeway went ok behind Magnifique Soleil at Flemington. He has barrier one and will have every chance.

Race Two: Dequetteville Stakes 1100m Form Guide
Back Me: I like Gowana at some value. Pace was too hot on debut behind Alezan Thunder. She then resumed at Caulfield, where she got back and ran home well for second. She should get the dream sit behind Lamingtons and looks the up and comer here.
Don’t Back Me: Alezan Thunder is a nice filly, but she is close to getting the tag as the bookies pal. Struggling to win, but she should be thereabouts.
Big Danger: Dashitude is a tough nut to crack, as we saw at Caulfield where she looked beat a thousand times up the straight, but refused to go away.
Roughie: Hard not to be impressed by Hot Fever and his slick debut win at Ballarat. Positive lead that he has been sent to Adelaide. Definite chance.

Race Three: Schweppes Cocktail Revolution Handicap 2000m Form Guide
Back Me: Very hard seeing Keep Cool getting beat. Slashing third at Caulfield and that would have topped him off nice for a race like this. One of the better bets on the program.
Don’t Back Me: We all know Mick Kent is a great trainer, but it’ll be a big effort if Countcool can win first up over 2000m.
Danger: Big step in grade for Faltastic, but he has promised to race in the better class for a while. Gets his chance to prove me right.
Roughie: He has a terrible second up record, but Texan Warney is the clear class factor. If his fitness levels are anywhere near right, he could certainly surprise.

Race Four: Tattsbet Queen Of The South Stakes 1600m Form Guide
Back Me: If it wasn’t for the weight, I’d launch into Zubbaya. In saying that, I still think she will win. She was stiff last Saturday and gets a perfect opportunity for redemption.
Don’t Back Me: I wouldn’t go near So Pristine. She is a non-winner for me. She has had her chance in all three runs this prep, but hasn’t finished it off in the straight.
Big Danger: Very cautious about Booklet. If the pace is on, she is the horse to be on, but I feel that Upon This Rock will get a cosy lead. However, I still rate her highly because she does have the class factor and the stable is flying.
Roughie: Sensational Report, Upon This Rock, Terpsichore, Little House and Blue Ribbon are all in the mix.

Race Five: Schweppes Australasian Oaks 2000m Form Guide
Back Me: She is at $7.50, but I will declare Rahveel the best bet on the program. She should have absolutely bolted in last start but got no clear space until the final 200m. By then, Crucial had the momentum and clung on. Wide barrier is no worry as she will get back and with the pace on, she should swoop and win.
Don’t Back Me: Empress Rock and Crucial. The former did work a bit last start, but she still had her chance I feel and Crucial was a very lucky winner.
Big Danger: A staying filly from NZ at $13 is very enticing. Kasumi was the real eye catcher when she took on the boys and powered home for third. Watch out for her.
Roughie: Gioe at $101? Huge overs for a filly that did finish fifth behind Mosheen in the Oaks last year. Definitely a place ticket on her.

Race Six: Chairman’s Stakes 2000m Form Guide
Back Me: One of the better maiden gallopers in Australia, I am cheering for Rock Musician. His first two runs this prep at Sportingbet Park were super. He then went to Cranbourne for the easy kill and was probably ridden with a bit too much confidence and was nailed near the post. With a soft ride from Bossy, he can break his maiden status.
Don’t Back Me: Meshmaker looks a likely type, but barrier 16 is very tough. Happy to leave him out.
Big Danger: Cornell made light work of them last start over 1800m and I can’t see the extra furlong being an issue. The jockey/trainer combination is hot at the moment.
Roughie: Huge fan of Quick Retort. Not sure if he can win, but a must for exotics, even though he is a maiden as well.

Roughie: Power Princess, the crack mare from the west, had no luck last start behind We’re Gonna Rock after sitting deep with no cover. With normal luck, she could perhaps sneak a place.

Back Me: With normal luck, Kulgrinda will simply win. If you backed her last start, you don’t want to see it again. Nolen is back on, rails draw, on the minimum…perfectly placed.
Don’t Back Me: Catapulted is a more than capable sprinter, but he doesn’t quite produced his best second up. Could be a risk.
Big Danger: Go The Knuckle was an enormous winner on Adelaide Cup Day. She was posted three and four wide with no cover in a hot race yet drew away to win like a horse that is well above average.
Roughie: Not sure how rough he will be, but put in Stirling Grove. He will sit back on a very hot speed and charge at them late.
