Melbourne Cup runner-up Red Cadeaux will clash with stablemate Snow Fairy in next month’s Hong Kong Vase at Sha Tin.
Trainer Ed Dunlop announced via twitter that Snow Fairy, who had nominations for both the Vase (2400m) and the Cup (2000m) would contest the former.
French horse Dunaden, who beat Red Cadeaux in the closest ever finish to the Melbourne Cup, will also contest the Vase.
Snow Fairy travelled from Japan on Wednesday fresh from defending her title in the Queen Elizabeth II Commemorative Cup while Red Cadeaux is due to leave Australia on Saturday.
“Decision made last night, SF runs in HK Vase not Cup this year, so does RC!” Dunlop tweeted.
Invitations to the International meeting on December 11 were issued on Wednesday with the Hong Kong Jockey Club opting not to include Australian Group One winner Atomic Force in the Sprint.
New Zealand’s Horse of the Year Jimmy Choux will be the sole representative from Australasia when he runs in the Mile.
