Godolphin’s Mandaean maintained his unbeaten record in the Criterium de Saint Cloud, the final Group One of the European Flat season.
Trained by Andre Fabre, the Manduro colt had won his only previous start at Longchamp and looks a youngster of some potential.
Not surprisingly he looked a bit green in the closing stages, but he stayed the 10-furlong (2000m) trip in the heavy ground strongly.
Maxime Guyon did not have to get too serious with his mount to comfortably beat Brocottes and Tai Chi.
Godolphin racing manager Simon Crisford said the stable was looking forward to the future.
“We were very pleased with Mandaean today,” Crisford said.
“I know he drifted around in the straight but he won well and that sets him up for a good campaign next year.
“He is an interesting prospect.”
