Hopes continue to rise that Snow Fairy could make her reappearance in the Prince of Wales’s Stakes at Royal Ascot.
The six-time Group One-winning mare looked as good as ever when she won the Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown last September, but she was ruled out for the rest of the campaign after suffering a tendon injury, missing possible targets such as the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe and Breeders’ Cup.
Owner Cristina Patino confirmed the six-year-old would return to training in 2013 and having pleased trainer Ed Dunlop since returning to his Newmarket base, he is looking forward to seeing her back on the racecourse.
“She did her first little bit of fast work on Friday and if she’s ready, we’d like to take her to Royal Ascot,” Dunlop said.
As a three-year-old Snow Fairy travelled to Asia where she won two Group One races, the Queen Elizabeth II Commemorative Cup in Kyoto and the Hong Kong Vase at Sha Tin.
Dunlop’s other world traveller, Red Cadeaux, was unable to add to his impressive international record on Sunday, finishing out of the placings in Sunday’s Singapore Airlines International Cup won by Hong Kong’s Military Attack.
