A decision on where Saramenha steps out for her season debut will be made later this week with the filly entered for races in Sydney and Brisbane.

A year ago, Saramenha was all the rage for the Golden Slipper after two wins and a second from four starts in the spring.

She was among the tailenders in the Slipper and her best performance since was a second in a Listed race in Brisbane won by subsequent Group One TJ Smith winner Benfica.

Trainer Gerald Ryan has nominated her for two races at Rosehill over 1100 and 1300 metres and a 1200m race at Doomben and will discuss where she goes with managing owner Scott Darby.

“I will talk it over with Scott,” Ryan said.

“We will look at all the nominations and pick the best race for her.

“The race at Doomben is set weights where here it’s not so we will have to look at that as well.”

Saramenha was also entered for a barrier trial at Rosehill on Tuesday but that has been shelved.

“She will be racing on Saturday so she won’t be running in the trial,” Ryan said.

The trainer said he and Darby had yet to work out a plan for Saramenha but he was happy with how she had come back as a three-year-old.

“She did what she had to do as a two-year-old which was win a couple of early races,” he said.

“It was always going to be hard after that.

“I’m happy with her since she’s come back and she’s going terrific.”

Stablemate Regal Banter has also been entered for two races at Rosehill, a 1400m welter and a 1500 benchmark 80.

He will be backing up seven days after a luckless run over 1300 metres also at Rosehill.

He got well back early and just as he was working into the race at the 200m, Regal Banter had to be steadied then he was checked inside the 100 metres and lost all momentum.

“He will definitely be running. He did nothing on Saturday,” Ryan said.
