Talented sprinter Spirit Of Boom has been given a glowing report by trainer Tony Gollan ahead of his return to racing at Flemington on Saturday.

Spirit Of Boom impressed Gollan when he worked solo over 800 metres on the course proper at Eagle Farm on Saturday morning.

“His work was super and he’s taken another step since he won a jump-out at Doomben last Tuesday,” Gollan said.

Spirit Of Boom, who hasn’t raced since finishing sixth to Mid Summer Music in the Stradbroke Handicap at Eagle Farm on June 9, will fly to Melbourne on Tuesday and resume in Saturday’s Group Two Bobbie Lewis Quality (1200m) at Flemington.

The five-year-old will be accompanied on his flight to Melbourne by his older half-brother Temple Of Boom who gave Gollan his first Group One success in The Galaxy (1100m) at Randwick in April.

Temple Of Boom will aim for back to back wins when he resumes in the Group Two Gilgai Stakes (1200m) at Flemington on October 6.

Meanwhile leading trainer Robert Heathcote has changed plans with Solzhenitsyn who will resume racing at Doomben on Saturday with leading apprentice Anthony Allen booked to ride the gelding.

“My original plan was to run him first up in the Bobbie Lewis but when Woorim had his little setback I elected to keep him here and run at Doomben over 1350 metres,” Heathcote said.

“He’ll go to Melbourne after that and run in the Rupert Clarke at Caulfield.”

Woorim suffered a tendon injury last month but Heathcote hopes to have him back by the autumn.

He said Excellantes and stable spearhead Buffering would travel to Melbourne later this month.

Buffering’s past seven starts have produced one win and six Group One placings including two behind Black Caviar and one behind Hay List.
