A large field is expected for Saturday’s $1m Group 1 Australian Cup (2000m).
The field for the Australian Cup will be finalised on Wednesday, but Just Horse Racing has examined all the latest news to determine what the field would look like if acceptances were taken today.
It appears that shifting the Australian Guineas back a week may have helped, with Perth star Playing God likely to back up in the Australian Cup.
However, there are a number of queries in the field.
It is not known if New Zealand trainer Jeff Lynds intends to bring his stable stars Wall Street and Booming to Melbourne for the Australian Cup or whether he will send them straight to Sydney for the Group 1 Ranvet Stakes (2000m).
Wall Street has been removed from TAB Sportsbet’s market while Booming is still rated a $51 chance.
It is also not known if Gai Waterhouse will back up Lorne Dancer after he ran a fairly good seventh in the Group 1 Chipping Norton Stakes (1600m) at Warwick Farm last Saturday.
