Imported stayer Less Is More is on the Brisbane Cup trail after he scored his first Australian win at Eagle Farm on Saturday.
Ridden by Peter Robl and starting favourite, Less Is More ($4.60) won the Channel Seven Handicap (1600m) by a neck from Black Cash ($6.50) with Vacallo ($7) a length away third.

Part-owner Angelo Vasili said Less Is More had been taken along gradually by trainer David Vandyke this preparation but will step up in distance for the remainder of his Brisbane campaign.
“He’ll have his next start in two weeks time in the Premier’s Cup over 2200 metres at Doomben,” Vasili said.
“Then it’s another two weeks into the Brisbane Cup which is his main goal up here.”
Robl believes the gelding will have no trouble handling staying assignments in Brisbane.
“He relaxes well and he has the right attitude to handle 2400 metres without any problems,” Robl said.
“There’s still good improvement in him and the Brisbane Cup isn’t beyond him.”
Less Is More began his career in France, winning three minor races before entering Vandyke’s stables last year.
The gelding had a brief campaign during the spring before Vandyke spelled him with the Brisbane carnival in mind.
