Newmarket Handicap winner Hay List has had a second scheduled track gallop cancelled in as many days ahead the Group One William Reid Stakes at Moonee Valley.
Hay List was to gallop at Moonee Valley on Monday but trainer John McNair delayed it 24 hours to allow Glyn Schofield to fly in from Dubai to partner the sprinter only to call off Tuesday’s workout on Monday afternoon.
He told Moonee Valley officials that Hay List was “fit and primed” for Friday night’s Group One weight-for-age William Reid (1200m) which attracted 11 runners.
Meanwhile Peter Snowden-trained Beaded was the star worker among a group of William Reid Stakes candidates who took the opportunity to gallop at Moonee Valley on Monday.
After posting the worst performance of her career when 11th to Hay List in the Newmarket, she reeled off her last 400 metres in 23.63 seconds.
Rob Heathcote-trained stablemates Buffering and Woorim came home together in 24.31 seconds while the John O’Shea-trained three-year-old Foxwedge was untested running 25.38 seconds for his last 400 metres.
Buffering was brave in defeat when second to Hay List in a photo finish in the Newmarket while Foxwedge was third and Woorim fifth.
Cox Plate third placegetter Rekindled Interest adds intrigue to the William Reid while other entries are former Hong Kong sprinter Happy Zero, Goodwood winner Lone Rock, 2010 Oakleigh Plate winner Eagle Falls, Love Conquers All and the Peter Moody-trained Mid Summer Music.
