Brad Witt hopes progressive filly Lexical Ambiguity can go out on a winning note on her home track at Wagga Wagga on Tuesday and enhance her claims for major country races next year.
The three-year-old daughter of Clangalang tackles the Sportsbar Plus Class 3 Handicap (1600m).
“We’ve always thought she was a Guineas-type horse and she’ll spell after tomorrow and be set for the Albury and Wagga (Murrumbidgee) Guineas,” Witt said.
“She’s as tough as nails this filly who has done a good job so far. She just loves her racing.”
Lexical Ambiguity has recorded two wins and two placings from eight starts.
She was purchased by part-owner Joel Franks as a yearling.
“Joel and I went to the sales,” Witt said.
“He bought Lexical Ambiguity and I got Pointing To Gold, who goes nice, and will have its first start in the opening race tomorrow.”
Lexical Ambiguity is coming off a last start three-length fifth to Blue Ribbon over 1514m at Moonee Valley on November 25.
“I had her in down there (at Melbourne) again but she got balloted out,” Witt said.
“Craig Newitt was impressed with her when he rode her at Moonee Valley.”
Before Moonee Valley, Lexical Ambiguity scored her maiden win over 1400m at Albury on October 8 and scored impressively in a 1400m Class 3 event at Wagga Wagga on November 11.
“She’s a big filly, very honest and a very good doer,” Witt said.
“She never leaves any feed in her bin.”
Mindful Lexical Ambiguity has had six runs this campaign, Witt has monitored her well-being closely.
“Nothing seems to phase her,” he said. “She normally bounces around after coming off the track and she’s full of life at the moment.”
