Seven-time Group One winner Gio Ponti will stand at Arrowfield Stud in the NSW Hunter Valley this spring.
Trained by Christophe Clement, Gio Ponti is a three-time Eclipse Award winner in the United States and his seven elite wins were between 1600 and 2000 metres.
“Gio Ponti’s superlative record will stamp him one of the all-time great American turf horses,” Arrowfield boss John Messara said.
“His athleticism, good looks and Tale Of The Cat’s proven compatibility with Australasian bloodlines make him a very exciting addition to our roster.”
Gio Ponti is the best performed son of Tale Of The Cat, the sire of 74 stakeswinners including southern hemisphere Group One winners Glamour Puss, Gathering and Tell A Tale.
He is currently serving his first book of mares at his owner’s farm in Kentucky.
Arrowfield is expected to announce its 2012 service fees in the next week or two.
