Stakes winning mare Arinosa will have two crucial gallops this week to determine whether Chris Waller has a triple threat in the final Group One race of the season.

Waller already has Red Tracer and She’s Clean heading to the Tatt’s Tiara (1400m) on Saturday week as he attempts to take his season Group One tally to nine.

Arinosa missed Saturday’s Stradbroke Handicap due to a foot abscess which has now healed and Waller is keen to give her a chance at the highest level.

“She will gallop on Tuesday morning and have another gallop between races at the Gold Coast on Saturday,” Waller said.

“Hopefully she comes through well and joins the other two mares in the Tatt’s Tiara.”

Arinosa, the winner of two stakes races during the Sydney autumn, was found to be lame after her fourth in the Glenlogan Park Stakes on May 25 at Doomben.

Red Tracer, runner-up in Sydney’s two Group One mares’ races – the Coolmore Classic and the Queen of the Turf – won Saturday’s Dane Ripper Stakes at Eagle Farm while She’s Clean earned her ticket north with victory in the June Stakes at Randwick.

Waller has already won two Group Ones at the Brisbane winter carnival, the Doomben Cup with Beaten Up and the Queensland Derby with Hawkspur.

He came close to claiming another with Zoustar who ran second in Saturday’s J J Atkins in which stablemate Vilanova ran fourth.

The performances of both two-year-olds have convinced the trainer they can be Group One winners in the spring and he has already plotted their targets.

“They will only get to have two or three weeks out in the paddock before they get ready to tackle the spring,” Waller said.

“The Golden Rose looks like a good race for Zoustar while Vilanova will be aimed at the Spring Champion Stakes.

“There is not much turnaround time between the winter and the spring but on the plus side they will have residual fitness on their side.”

The Golden Rose (1400m) is at Rosehill on September 14 while the Spring Champion Stakes is on October 12.
