One of the feature races on Saturday’s Rosehill program could be a taste of things to come for top trainer David Hayes and champion Sydney apprentice Chad Schofield.
Schofield will partner the Hayes-trained Eagle Falls if he runs in the Listed Starlight Stakes (1100m) before beginning a three-month stint with the Victorian-based trainer on Monday.
Schofield, the son of Sydney jockey Glyn, is indentured to David Payne at Rosehill and will join Hayes on loan.
Hayes already has a huge opinion of the youngster, comparing him favourably to champion jockey Craig Williams at the same stage.
Williams was stable rider for Hayes for four years and the pair enjoyed great success including claiming the 2006 Golden Slipper with Miss Finland.
“Chad is a tremendous talent, an outstanding rider with a bright future,” Hayes said.
“He reminds me a lot of a young Craig Williams. It will be exciting to see him further develop at Lindsay Park Euroa.”
The acquisition of Schofield follows Lindsay Park’s recent appointment of last season’s champion Adelaide apprentice Nathan Rose who has since joined the ranks of senior riders.
Eagle Falls has been paid up for both the Starlight Stakes in Sydney and the Regal Roller Stakes at Caulfield.
If he runs in Melbourne Damien Oliver will ride.
