What the jockeys said following the running of the Group One Caulfield Cup won by the French star Dunaden.

Craig Williams (Dunaden 1st): “I was very confident he could win the race on his work. When you draw that barrier you need a lot of luck but he’s a very good horse and was able to overcome it.”

Dom Tourneur (Alcopop 2nd): “Jake turned him out in great order. He put his heart and soul into it but unfortunately he was beaten by the best horse.”

Luke Nolen (Lights Of Heaven 3rd): “Good sound run, probably a good Melbourne Cup trial. It bottle-necked a bit on the corner but once she got out she found the line nicely.”

Gerald Mosse (Americain 4th): “I was very pleased with the horse. I believe he will improve quite a lot after that run and should be ready for the big day (at Flemington).”

Corey Brown (My Quest For Peace 5th): “I thought he ran really good. I thought Glencadam Gold would take me a bit further into the race. He’ll go much better when he gets to Flemington on the bigger track.”

Craig Newitt (Zabeelionaire 6th): “He ran great. He got knocked over going down to the first turn but then we got into a good spot. He just wasn’t able to build up momentum but he hit the line good.”

Ben Melham (Folding Gear 7th): “He was going to run into it and copped a bit of carnage on the corner which cost him momentum, had that not have happened he is probably somewhere in the finish.”

Glen Boss (Sneak A Peek 8th): “It was a good run. He’s very immature, I think (Peter Moody) has got a very good spring horse for next year.”

Jamie Mott (Winchester 9th): “He didn’t begin very well, I wanted to ride him quiet anyway. At the 700 metres when they quickened up he was just a bit flat-footed.”

Nick Hall (Sanagas 10th): “He ran good, he’ll stay that’s the main thing.”

Brenton Avdulla (Secret Admirer 11th): “She ran good for her first time at the trip. She jumped well, travelled in a lovely spot but she got a bump before the corner and just got a little lost around Caulfield the first time, but her last furlong was good.”

Dwayne Dunn (Niwot 12th): “He raced a bit flat today. I look forward to seeing him at Flemington.”

Colm O’Donoghue (Jakkalberry 13th): “Delighted with his run. He felt like he needed the race a little but I was delighted with his last furlong. He felt a little bit dour today and was flat-footed over the last eight hundred but finished off good.”

Kerrin McEvoy (Moudre 14th): “He went OK, he was stuck on the inside and I had my momentum stopped at the 300 (metres) which didn’t help my chances.

Jim Cassidy (Glencadam Gold 15th): “I travelled nice in the run. From the 800 (metres), he started to chop and change stride a bit and as soon as I did that, I was coming off the bit.”

Clare Lindop (Sabrage 16th): “I was back with Dunaden and Alcopop and went inside but when they sprinted they left me a bit flat-footed.”

Michael Rodd (December Draw 17th): “It worked out really well. He broke well and we had a nice run but at the end of the day, he just didn’t stay.”

Vlad Duric (Voila Ici 18th): “We got across nicely and settled well but he was a beaten horse at the 600 (metres). He may have felt the ground a bit.”
