International interest in Eye On You is expected to skyrocket after his dominant win in the Yellowglen Handicap (1200m) at Doomben on Wednesday.

Trainer Lawrie Mayfield-Smith said owner Gino Loiero has already fielded several offers to buy the three-year-old.

“There’s been a lot of offers for him but that’s up to Gino to sort out,” he said.

“Winning a Saturday three-year-old race will make him a lot more marketable for the Asian racing circuit.”

Jockey Michael Cahill rated Eye On You a “freak” after the gelding won by 4-3/4 lengths.

“You don’t like to label them too early but he’s got freakish qualities,” Cahill said.

“I said after he won at the Gold Coast last start he was a Group horse and he’s gone even better today.”

Mayfield-Smith echoed Cahill’s glowing assessment of Eye On You who was bought by his long-time stable client Loiero after a Werribee Maiden win in May.

“I’ve only had him about three weeks and I still haven’t got to the bottom of him,” Mayfield-Smith.

“He does things on the track only good horses can and he’s probably one of the best I’ve ever trained.”

Mayfield-Smith said the gelding’s easy-going attitude is one of his best assets.

“He’s got a kind nature and just wants to play with you all the time,” he said.

“I’m sure the penny hasn’t dropped with him yet.”

Meanwhile, Gold Coast trainer Scott Morrisey was his own harshest critic after Chosen Talent won the Ross Smith Handicap (1350m).

“He’s a horse I’ve got a lot of time for but he’s been stuffed around by wet tracks and me,” Morrisey said.

“I was looking at starting him in better races over the carnival and I sent him around here on a heavy track which he didn’t handle.

“It was the wrong thing to do. I should’ve scratched him and taken it with a grain of salt.”

Morrisey is considering the Grafton Guineas on July 10 as an option for Chosen Talent.
