The NSW Trainers’ Association board has appointed Steve McMahon as its new chief executive.
McMahon was previously chief of staff to former NSW Minister for Racing, Kevin Greene.
The association’s chairman Tim Hughes said McMahon’s experience in dealing with stakeholders in the NSW racing industry would help raise the profile of trainers and improve understanding of what they do.
“Steve McMahon comes to us with a very impressive background in sports administration,” Hughes said in a statement on Tuesday.
“Under his leadership the association is well positioned to enhance the position of trainers collectively and individually.”
The NSWTA announced late last month that Rob Colquhoun had resigned as CEO to pursue a position in the banking industry.
