Tasmanian racing minister Bryan Green has quashed suggestions the flagship summer carnival races could be in jeopardy due to concerns over the track.

A race meeting set down for last Sunday was postponed because of issues with the Hobart course proper but Green said those problems would be rectified in time for this weekend.

The Listed Hobart Guineas (2100m) headlines Sunday’s 10-race program with the Group Three Hobart Cup (2200m) scheduled for February 12.

“The course proper is being prepared and will be ready for Sunday’s Guineas meeting and the Hobart Cup,” Green said.

“The month-long carnival will showcase our industry to local and national audiences and everyone is working to ensure the track is in top condition.”

A field of 14 has been paid up for the Hobart Guineas headed by the Anthony Freedman-trained Caravaggio.
