Silent Achiever has taken over from Laser Hawk as favourite for the Australia Derby with the New Zealand filly backed from $3.80 to $3.50 with Sportingbet Australia.
Laser Hawk has drifted from $3.40 to $3.60 and Sportingbet Australia CEO Michael Sullivan said there had been little support for the Rosehill Guineas winner.
“The big punters have only been interested in backing Silent Achiever after her excellent run last start when she drew wide,” Sullivan said.
“Punters seem to have little doubt she can turn the tables on Laser Hawk who had every favour at Rosehill and is drawn awkwardly in eleven here.
“There hasn’t really been money for anything else in the race with a long priced move for Sangster ($81 to $41) the only other real action.”
Sullivan said the betting had also swung right around in the T.J. Smith with Foxwedge joining Rain Affair as a joint $2.20 favourite.
“We opened Rain Affair at $1.90 but there hasn’t been a bean for him and Foxwedge has been backed from $2.30 to $2.20,” he said.
