Alcopop has been heavily backed to win the Australian Cup at Sportingbet Australia after showing he was back in form with a slashing victory in the Sportingbet Kilmore Cup.
Sportingbet Australia CEO Michael Sullivan said Alcopop shortened from $51 to $26 following the win but punters instantly took that price and he was now into $21.

“It really was a very dominant win at Kilmore and if he is back to his best, he has to be right in an Australian Cup that doesn’t have a lot of depth this year,†Sullivan said.
“His odds had blown out to $51 following his poor first up run in Adelaide but punters jumped in instantly at $26 after the win with bets to win $10,000 and $5000 taken before more money coming at $21.
Sullivan said Heart of Dreams had firmed as favourite following his win in the St George Stakes on Saturday shortening from $7.00 to $4.50.
“Heart of Dreams is the clear favourite now but he obviously hasn’t impressed punters too much as we are struggling to write his name despite his dominant performance at Caulfield,†he said.
“The other well backed runners have been Zipping who is second favourite at $6.00 and Precedence who has shortened from $13 to $9.00 after he caught the eye in the St George.â€
