Watch 📺 Ka Ying Rising silences rumours with Canterbury gallop

Hong Kong sprint star Ka Ying Rising has quashed rumours about his fitness ahead of Saturday’s $20 million The Everest with a slick gallop at Canterbury Park on Monday.

Trainer David Hayes was caught off guard when the TAB briefly froze betting markets after social media chatter questioned the horse’s condition.

The speculation followed Ka Ying Rising’s third-place finish behind Linebacker and Overpass in a Randwick trial last week.

Jockey Zac Purton had rated the trial a “pass mark”, but doubts quickly emerged about whether the world’s top-rated sprinter was fully primed for Saturday’s 1200m showdown.

Those fears were put to rest when Ka Ying Rising produced a strong piece of work, cantering two laps before quickening sharply from the 800m and powering through the line.

Online bookmakers list him as a $1.75 favourite, ahead of Briasa, Jimmysstar and Joliestar at $7.
