Race 1. (12:20) Tab We're On (Bm70) 1410m
1 Detroit City (Bet Now: $SP.00) is the one to beat. Dom Sutton trains this guy, who is second up after debuting with an electric performance in the Jack Maher Classic at Wodonga. This race, as a whole, isn’t deep, and I think he only has to run up to the debut to be taking this out.
6 Khabalov (Bet Now:Â $SP.00) should appreciate a rise to 1400m. Price/Kent trained three year old that debuted over 1200m at Sandown at the midweeks. He was just left flat footed when the sprint went on but he picked up and was pretty good late in the piece behind impressive winner Lovelycut. Fitter and up to 1400m, he rates highly for mine.
7 Big Brute (Bet Now:Â $SP.00) is a talented three year old for Chris Bieg that can bounce back, hopefully on a firmer deck. He has found bog tracks his past two at Morphettville Parks, firstly in the Oaklands before the SA Sires Produce. Hopefully on a firmer deck and bigger track, I think he can run a much improved race.
Race 2. (12:55) Inside Run Trophy 2530m
It’s hard to get away from 3 Berkshire Breeze (Bet Now: $SP.00). He is flying and ticking along beautifully towards the first Tuesday in November. His win over 2600m here four weeks ago was just so damn arrogant. Admittedly, he took on camels. but he made them look like camels given the authority. Only has to hold his form and he wins.
4 Speycaster (Bet Now: $SP.00) has to be given another look. Chris Waller trained gelding that ran a fortnight back over 2800m here. He was backed with confidence late but got off the speed, spotted those in front a decent start and couldn’t fire a shot late in the piece behind Hit The Road Jack. Off his efforts in Sydney, he takes beating.
7 Wertheimer (Bet Now:Â $SP.00) is sneaky flying for Matty Enright and can take this out. He ran two weeks back over 2000m here when back off the speed and while he was never threatening, he kept finding the line in a pretty good effort behind Horrifying. One that could pinch first four.
Race 3. (13:30) Donate To Rda Australia (Bm84) 1410m
8 Divine Purpose (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks to have returned in good order and for mine, should eat up 1400m. She resumed over 1200m down the straight here two weeks ago when back near last in the run and spotted those in front a start. She was never really threatening, but did like the way she finished her race off in defeat. Better set up here, she’s hard to beat.
6 Street Delight (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks to have returned in really good order for Phillip Stokes and rates highly. She has been kept on ice since July 3 at Sandown when giving them a start and a beating. launching late to finish best, albeit the margin was narrow. Hard to knock the way she’s racing and is a key chance.
2 Belle Et Riche (Bet Now:Â $SP.00) is capable with her best. Team Freedman trained mare that ran in the Leilani Final when back in the ground and while she was never a threat, she made up headway and was good in defeat behind Cindy Falls. Gets the claim and dangerous if she can settle closer.
Race 4. (14:05) Jockeys Celebration Day Sprint (Bm84) 1100m
2 Maotai (Bet Now:Â $SP.00) is the winner if he brings his best. Formerly with Annabel Neasham, he now finds himself with Moody/Coleman and gee his trial/jumpout work has been sharp, a recent piece of work at Pakenham being outstanding. He has always been a quirky horse but clearly has talent and I feel he is flying.
3 Midtown Boss (Bet Now:Â $SP.00) is a talented animal for Jason Warren that resumes. He is first up, having not raced since May 1 when close up and game in defeat at Warrnambool in the Wangoom. He goes well fresh but more importantly, he loves racing down the straight at Flemington. Hard to beat I say.
4 Home Rule (Bet Now: $SP.00) will jump on the bunny and take running down. He ran over 1200m here last time out when leading and giving a very strong sight but just couldn’t quite see it through when a narrow second to Mr Exclusive. Like him back to 1100m and with his racing pattern, he’ll give himself every chance.
Race 5. (14:40) Vrc Season Premiere Race Day Plate (Bm84) 1620m
4 Watadeel (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a track/distance winner and can run an improved race. He ran in the British Columbia race from three weeks back at Caulfield where he got into a sticky spot, sitting wide throughout and tried hard but the tough run told. Like him back to Flemington and with a more economical run in transit, he’s dangerous.
7 Place Of Gold (Bet Now: $SP.00) is very dangerous if this track can dry out. He ran three weeks back at Caulfield where the track was a bit on the wet side and he couldn’t quite pick his feet up on the track behind noted swimmer El Rocko. If this track can get on the firmer side vs Caulfield last start, his best is more than good enough.
8 Frumos (Bet Now: $SP.00) is three weeks between runs for Team Hayes since racing at Caulfield when attempting to lead throughout and she gave a strong sight but she couldn’t quite see it through behind British Columbia. I think with a bunny to chase, she’ll be quite effective.
Race 6. (15:15) Aurie's Star Hcp 1200m
8 Right To Party (Bet Now: $SP.00) on top but this isn’t a Stakes race I want to get involved in. Team Freedman trained mare that comes here off the back of a win in the Creswick Final where she gave them a start and a beating, letting down with real purpose late in the piece to win and win well. Loves the straight course, down in the weights, hard to beat.
2 It’sourtime (Bet Now: $SP.00) is four weeks between runs for Danny O’Brien since taking out the Santa Ana Lane Final, where he continued his love affair with the straight track, absolutely bolting in the run before being clicked up and was strong to the line in winning. Has to be respected, especially at the straight six.
6 Crosshaven (Bet Now: $SP.00) is four weeks between runs for Team Hayes since racing down the Flemington straight in the Santa Ana Lane Final where he kept finding the line from off the speed behind It’sourtime. He’s racing very well since being trained as a sprinter and is a must for exotics.
Race 7. (15:55) Vrc Spring Gala Plate (Bm78) 2000m
8 St Vincent’s Garden (Bet Now: $SP.00), I think, may just have a bit on these. Aussie debut came at the Sunny Coast where he just got too far back in the run but I really liked the way he finished his race off in defeat when second. Fitter and up in trip, firmer deck, he has class from overseas to beat these.
3 Lauding (Bet Now:Â $SP.00) is an improver for Ciaron Maher. He as kept safe in betting when resuming three weeks ago over 1700m at Caulfield where he did get held up at times but that said, I thought he had his chance and perhaps just looked in need of the run behind British Columbia. Fitter and up to 2000m, he has runs on the board to take beating.
4 Think N Fly (Bet Now: $SP.00) will jump on speed and give cheek at a big price. He couldn’t find the front at Mornington last time and that probably sealed his fate when down the track behind Touristic. Fresh legs, on speed, 3kg claim, if this track is suiting up/in, he becomes dangerous at a price.
Race 8. (16:30) Flemington Kentucky Bluegrass (Bm100) 1410m
4 Rheinberg (Bet Now: $SP.00) is such a genuine animal for Team Hayes. He is rarely far away from the thick end of the prize, winning impressively two back over 1400m at Caulfield before going to the same track/distance three weeks ago when chasing Astero and was game in defeat but couldn’t reel in the sharp winner. Like him at Flemington and is hard to beat once again.
3 Astero (Bet Now:Â $SP.00) is three weeks between runs for Matty Smith since an all the way win at Caulfield where he spanked his rivals, winning by six and did it with something in reserve. He does seem better with a bunny to chase but last start was something out of nowhere. If he runs up to last time, he appeals as a key threat.
2 Holymanz (Bet Now:Â $SP.00) is a Ciaron Maher trained gelding that resumes. This guy is first up, having not raced since the All Star Mile where Pride Of Jenni broke his heart, so be forgiving of the effort because not many can go with that star mare. Has a good record at Flemington and he can sprint well fresh. Watch the market.
Race 9. (17:02) Victorian Jockeys' Association Sprint (Bm74) 1200m
2 Bews (Bet Now:Â $SP.00) is the best horse in the race but is he getting towards last chance territory from a punters perspective? He has been quite costly this time in, being hard in the market on a number of occasions, the latest when narrowly beaten at Morphettville. He is the class factor and will be stronger than most at the end.
5 Heuristic (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a few weeks between runs for James Cummings since racing at Sandown where he seemingly got every chance in transit from behind the speed but had no answers for the finale of impressive winner and likely type The Open. Draws inside, which could be tricky, but I’ll leave that in the hands of J Kah.
12 Veecee (Bet Now: $SP.00) is capable with his best. Ciaron Maher trained gelding that was a notable drifter in betting when resuming at Pakenham Synthetic and ran accordingly behind Bold Print. He does have the engine under the hood so he’s better for the run, back on the turf and drawn the right part of the track, he can bounce back.
