Race One (12:25) : TAB Early Quaddie Handicap 1150m: Form Guide
Back Me: Inkling (Best Odds: $1.85) created a huge boom for himself after a spanking debut victory at Warwick Farm and was touted as a future big race winner. Therefore he started at a very short quote at his next outing at Rosehill, but it all went wrong for him there. He had to do some work outside the speed and pulled very hard in the run. By the time they straightened, he had nothing left and whacked away for third. He is a much better horse than that, so give him another chance.
Big Danger: Sir Barb (Best Odds: $9.00) makes his debut for Bjorn Baker off the back of a couple of impressive trial efforts, the first of those being a win over Double Happy, who ran enormous last Saturday at Rosehill. The second of the trials he ran third to a couple of Waterhouse youngsters, Echo Gal, who is a Group performer, and Himpapawid, a Gooree gelding who has looked very slick. Definitely check betting moves.
Roughie: Victorian visitor Tudor was a dual acceptor across a couple of states, but trainer Doug Harrison has elected to run here. He was okay first up at Caulfield behind Royal Snitzel, but I suspect he wasn’t 100% comfortable in the slow ground. Firmer conditions here should suit, has a touch of class and gets at least 2.5kg on his rivals. He is the knockout horse.

Race Two (13:05) : Theraces.com.au Handicap 1550m: Form Guide
Back Me: Blademeister (Best Odds: $5.00) looks the way to go here. Nicely bred colt for Team Snowden who has had two career starts and has been eye catching in both outings. On debut at Warwick Farm he got a long way back in a race dominated by the leader and ran on hard late for third, then went to Randwick and again got too far back in a leader dominated event when fourth. Crying out for this type of journey, and the stable have been absolutely lethal since starting up.
Big Danger: Testashadow (Best Odds: $2.70) won that Randwick race mentioned above, and he was given a lovely ride by talented apprentice Lester Grace, angling into the clear at the right time and eventually wearing down Good Project. Like the top tip, he has a stack of upside left and will appreciate the rise to 1550m.
Roughie: Statton (Best Odds: $6.00) stumbled at the start in that Randwick race won by Testashadow and that may have taken the zing out of him. He eventually kicked up and got the leaders back, but just whacked away in the straight when clear to run third. With a cleaner beginning, he won’t have to use up as much energy to get that position and can certainly win.

Race Three (13:40) : Hyland Race Colours Handicap (85) 2400m: Form Guide
Back Me: Going for some value in Miss Zenella (Best Odds: $7.00). To be fair, she hadn’t done much since finishing second in the QLD Oaks last year, but I saw enough in her last start fourth to Specific Choice to suggest a form reversal isn’t far away. The pace was very pedantic early on, so Blake Shinn took off 700m out and made it a line of four from that point onwards, giving the winner the perfect cart into the race. Normally, after making a run, Miss Zenella would cave in, but she toughed it out quite nicely, so with that in mind, along with dropping 3kg in weight, she looks a great each-way bet.
Big Danger: The winning chances of Saigon Tea (Best Odds: $2.10) will all depend on the weather forecast. She ran second in that race Specific Choice, and while she was unlucky given she got cut out near the rail, she was never going to trouble the winner. She is the form runner in the field, and while she will prove one of the hardest to beat, a firm track is against her, so she needs the forecast rain on Thursday to come.
Roughie: Former German mare Oriental Lady (Best Odds: $3.50) is starting to put it together in Australia now, winning her past two. At Newcastle two back, she beat a real bunch of donkeys taking away the runner up, who has won since. She then went to Warwick Farm, was unwanted in betting despite opening odds on, and despite that, she controlled the race from the front and never looked like getting beat. Appears to be good speed here, so it’ll be interesting to see what Avdulla is, whether he wants to kick up and lead, or take a sit. Either way, hard to beat.

Race Four (14:15) : Spring Carnival On Sale Now Handicap (92) 1800m: Form Guide
Back Me: Tough race to sort out. I’m prepared to forgive Reigning (Best Odds: $7.50) for his last start failure at Randwick given he pulled hard early on in the run and was forced to roll forward, which isn’t his go. He is a chaser and needs a bunny to follow. Coming back to 1800m and a senior rider back on board gives him every chance to complete a form reversal.
Big Danger: Laidback Larry (Best Odds: $3.20) was well supported first up over the Randwick mile, but in a fast run race, he was the first horse beat on the turn and plugged away for fifth. He earned enough credits from the Autumn to forgive him for that outing, but he does need to show something here, because he looked outstanding at the trials prior to that first up failure.
Roughie: Scottish Border (Best Odds: $26.00) has been a grand campaigner for Garry Frazer and still continues to be competitive in town, as he showed a fortnight back at Canterbury with a closing third to Strictly Concert and Dragon Flyer in a race dominated at the front end by the latter. Up to 1800m is a plus, as is coming back to a bigger track and tumbling 7.5kg in weight.

Race Five (14:50) : Inglis Bonus Handicap (75) 1400m: Form Guide
Back Me: Coolring (Best Odds: $8.00) was a dominant winner at Canterbury two runs back, then ran last Saturday at Rosehill and tried very hard when second to tearaway winner Runaway Star. While he is in this vein of form, I don’t think it’s a major issue that he is on the seven day back up and I feel he is looking for the 1400m now.
Big Danger: Impulsive Spirit (Best Odds: $4.40) was smashed in betting last week at Warwick Farm and justified the punters confidence with an absolute caning of his rivals, winning by a widening four lengths. He has always promised to perform at this level, maybe even higher, and he is just starting to realise his potential.
Roughie: Royal Jackpot (Best Odds: $11.00) was scratched from a much easier race at Goulburn earlier in the week to contest this race. That track was the scene of his latest outing, which resulted in a pretty dominant win, and impressive considering he carried 57kg and was made to carry it due to a hot speed. Matty Dale knows when to bring them in town and he has found a suitable race.

Race Six (15:25) : July Sprint 1150m: Form Guide
Back Me: It took a gun ride by in form hoop Jason Collett for Casual Choice to get the money when racing at Rosehill three weeks back before racing there again last Saturday and just failing to pick up the in form Cradle Me. The quick back up tells me he has come through last week with flying colours and is ready to taken on open company.
Big Danger: Tahitian Black looks to be clearly the best weighted horse in the race. His form this time in has been okay, but there was plenty of merit in his last start sixth to Rifleman at Randwick, making up a stack of ground from the back despite carrying 59kg. Tumbles down to 51kg here and should get every chance from the rails draw. A return to the winners list wouldn’t surprise me.
Roughie: Earnest Ernest (Best Odds: $7.50) finished third behind Casual Choice and Cradle Me a few weeks back, then ran on late to grab fourth behind that pair along with Green Beret last Saturday. He handles a seven day back up quite well and a fast run race here should suit.

Race Seven (16:05) : TFE Hotels Great Weekends Handicap (84) 1150m: Form Guide
Back Me: Race looks as if it’ll be won by a horse near the top. I was quite impressed by the trial win of Angel Bee (Best Odds: $5.50) on Monday at Rosehill, beating home the likes of Kencella, Messene and Entirely Platinum, each of which have either performed at Group l level or will perform at that level in the Spring, so while it can be a mistake to follow trial form, that class of equine flash is good enough for me to suggest she’ll go close against her own sex here.
Big Danger: I’ve Got The Looks (Best Odds: $3.80) capped off a chapter of Australian racing history at Rosehill a few weeks back where she scored, being the last horse to ever salute under the Walter name. Now with Team Snowden, and with no public appearance since that brilliant first up win, so you can only go on that, and it was very good.
Roughie: Miss Alibi (Best Odds: $4.80) was ridden on the speed a fortnight back at Randwick and the effort to kick up and lead just told the last little bit where she was swamped late by an impressive Rifleman. With a sit here, and with Reith back in the saddle, she can definitely get back to the winners list.

Race Eight (16:45) : TAB Rewards Handicap (85) 1400m: Form Guide
Back Me: Pretty keen here on Society Man (Best Odds: $3.20) in the get out stakes. I thought he was very good first up at Wyong, then went to Randwick and had no luck, getting caught wide with cover, then forced wider on the turn and despite all that, he looked the winner 100m out, only to be bloused near the rail by a freakish Blake Shinn ride on Burbero. Meets Burbero 2kg worse off at the weights, but he has more upside and Burbero gets an apprentice now and not the senior rider.
Big Danger: Burbero (Best Odds: $7.50) still has to go in as a danger, even though the ride got him home. If he didn’t get the ride from Shinn, he probably would have been a good thing beaten. He can be hit and miss at times, but he does get everything in favour in terms of facts and figures on the top tip, so he will prove hard to beat despite the fact he has been up a while.
Roughie: Big, big, big watch on Gangster’s Choice (Best Odds: $17.00), who makes his debut under the care of Joe Pride off the back of a couple of very strong barrier trials at Warwick Farm. He usually runs well fresh and the trials tell me he has come back in super order, so if there is any sort of money for him, look out.
