Jockey Dan Nikolic was suspended for 15 meetings after he adversely affected the chances of several runners in the sixth heat of the Winter Championship at Flemington.
Stewards interviewed seven riders including Nikolic who pleaded guilty to careless riding on Tiakinui (fourth) who shifted out passing the 300m causing a number of horses to be hampered.
Tiakinui took out Time Matters (fifth) which resulted in Tough Future (10th) to severely check and Time Matters and Shadowfax (12th) to be hampered.
Stewards acknowledged that there was a shift from the outside from James Winks who was reprimanded for his ride on second-placed Jeuneyman.
Nikolic’s carelessness was deemed in the high range and his suspension starts at midnight on Saturday.
He misses “Finals Day” at Flemington on July 9 with his suspension finishing at midnight on July 10.
