A plastic running rail will be in use on a metropolitan Sydney track for the first time on Chipping Norton Stakes day on Saturday.
The Mawsafe plastic running rail has been installed at Warwick Farm this week with Sydneyβs other major tracks to get plastic running rails soon, starting with Randwick.
βThis is a positive step for racing in Sydney as we move to protect the stars of our business β the horses and the jockeys,β Australian Turf Club chief executive Darren Pearce said in a statement.
βWe have conducted extensive tests and we are confident Mawsafe is the right way to go.
βIt was successfully implemented interstate and has already helped to avoid serious injury in race falls.β
