McDonald is aboard $2.90 favourite Castelvecchio in the Australian Derby along with $3.50 favourite Nature Strip in the TJ Smith Stakes.
McDonald rides $5 chance Ligulate in the Country Championships Final, $11 hope Bartley in the Inglis Sires’ and $13 prospect Mister Sea Wolf in the Doncaster Mile.
McDonald and Tommy Berry claimed the inaugural Nathan Berry Medal in 2014 before Hugh Bowman’s dominance from 2015-2017 and last year as well.
Blake Shinn won the Nathan Berry Medal in 2018.
