7/5/2022 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Gold Coast, Hollindale Stakes day

Nine races will be run and won at the Gold Coast this Saturday where it is Hollindale Stakes Day. The weather is fine, the track is heavy (8) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

8 Sibaaq (Bet Now: $2.80) is a very interesting runner. Former UK galloper that makes his Australian debut for Annabel Neasham. He produced some decent efforts over 1400m-1600m, so resuming at seven furlongs I do like for him and his two trials in Sydney have been more than encouraging, so keen to see how he goes.

9 Smooth Move (Bet Now: $21.00) is a Team Edmonds trained gelding that has home track advantage and should be better for the first up run, which came over 1200m here on testing ground when back in ther un and making up headway when third in a good return. Callow on, fitter, hopefully a firmer deck, he’s a threat.

16 Sienna’s Choice (Bet Now: $34.00) is knocking on the door for Kelly Schweida. Ran over the mile a few weeks ago where she was well supported but unfortunately KWT couldn’t get clear air with her and it ended up being a nightmare for her. Respecting the market push for her from last start. Just back to 1400m the knock.

2 Remlaps Gem (Bet Now: $2.00) is the best 900m horse in Australia and he’ll confirm it with another win. Last start came at this track/distance back on March 19 where as usual, sustained speed from the front came to the fore and he was much too good. All things being equal, he wins again.

1 Usmanov… (Bet Now: $5.50) is he back on track? He ran second in the Remlaps Gem race from March 19 where he was ridden positively, sitting on speed and tried hard, but was no match for Scott Singleton’s speed demon. If he can reproduce that, he will run well once again.

3 Esta La Roca (Bet Now: $10.00) can run an improved race for Lloyd Kennwell. She got caught up in a speed battle in the Ascot Handicap at Eagle Farm and that early hard burn just told on her late when down the track behind Je Suis Belle. More economical run here, she can bounce back.

10 Soprano Supreme (Bet Now: $7.00) is seemingly getting better with racing for Mark Walker and Te Akau Racing. Last couple of runs have come at Rotorua, the latest over 2200m where she sat off the speed before sliding into the race with purpose, taking the lead early on in the straight and dashing clear. This isn’t a strong staying race and down in the weights, confident she measures up.

5 Stardome (Bet Now: $6.00) has been up a little while but is holding his form quite nicely. He ran over 2200m at Doomben a fortnight back and chased strongly from off the speed, just missing out on the win when a close up third to Youngblood. I think 2400m will be no issue and stable is in form.

1 Swords Drawn (Bet Now: $8.00) is another Kiwi, this one trained by the Ritchie/Murray camp. Hasn’t raced since April 16 when a strong winner of the Hawkes Bay Cup at Hastings. Form around him, as a whole, is okay. Not sure how well he’s weighted but have to respect these gallopers when they come across.

3 Nettuno (Bet Now: $1.75) could be a moral here and progress to win the JJ Atkins. Hard to get a gauge on how good he is. 2/2 to start his career, spanking them on debut at the Sunny Coast before going to Doomben where he made an absolute mess of them from the front. Expecting him to win again.

2 Allude (Bet Now: $14.00) has come back in good order. He was smashed in betting when resuming over 1000m at Eagle Farm a few weeks ago, the market suggesting he was there to rock and roll fresh and it was spot on, sitting on speed and dashing clear late. He’ll prove hard to beat once again.

13 Stroll (Bet Now: $11.00) is a talented filly for the O’Dea/Hoysted camp that resumes. She had a two run Summer prep to start her career, winning on debut at the Sunny Coast before racing here in the Gold Pearl and was good late when third to Miss Hellfire. Trial leading in was solid and stable is firing, so she’s in the mix.

If the track isn’t too bad, I am really keen on 1 Yamazaki (Bet Now: $4.50), who is having her first run for Michael Costa after formerly being with Matty Dunn. Last run last prep came in The Gong when a game third to Count De Rupee, form which clearly reads well, and she has trialled up like a jet to get ready.

I’ll need a new TV if 6 April Rain (Bet Now: $4.40) wins because I jumped off her as a betting proposition after her first up run, which was plain on paper, albeit the track was against her and she did pull up 1/5 lame post race, but she’s let me down far too many times. The counter to that is that, overall, this is a very weak Stakes race, and if she produces anywhere near her best, she goes close to winning.

13 Giulia (Bet Now: $34.00) is a Lee Freedman trained filly that is looking to make it three on the bounce. Latest win came at Ipswich where she led throughout and gave nothing else a look in from the front in a dominant display. Good test here, but she has the right racing pattern to give herself every chance.

1 Gypsy Goddess (Bet Now: $2.00) has to be the one to beat. Classy filly who was very good in two NSW runs, the latest being in the Oaks when a game second to El Patroness. Heading towards the QLD Oaks and back to 1800m, if she has petrol in the tank, which you’d assume she has, she’s the one.

5 Canadian Dancer (Bet Now: $6.00) is a progressive filly for the O’Dea/Hoysted camp that comes into this off the back of a dominant Princess Stakes triumph two weeks ago at Doomben, put into a lovely spot by Ben Thompson and the filly repaid the ride with a strong finale. Off that, 1800m is no issue and is hard to beat.

6 Stalking (Bet Now: $18.00) is a filly I have time for. James Cummings trains and she finally broke the maiden tag at Kembla last time out where she looked an absolute moral on paper hence the short quote and justified it with a commanding performance to win comfortably. Proven at Stakes level before, she’s a key threat.

11 Four Moves Ahead (Bet Now: $9.00) is right in this with her A game. Hasn’t raced since the Surround Stakes where she was brave in defeat behind a very good filly in Hinged, beaten just under four lengths on testing ground. Spelled with this Carnival in mind and her two trials have been strong. I think she’ll run really well at a big price.

5 Zethus (Bet Now: $13.00) should take beating, hopefully on firmer footing. Hasn’t raced for several weeks since contesting the South Pacific at Randwick when the track was against and he ran okay in defeat behind Vilana. Liked his tick over trial and hopefully on a firmer deck, his best sees him go awfully close.

13 Miss Hipstar (Bet Now: $18.00) is a capable filly for Kelly Schweida that was ridden with intenr first up in the Mick Dittman and she was there to win. Just couldn’t quite get there when a game second to Rubiquitous. I think she is more effective when ridden with a sit, so if that can eventuate here, she’ll be dangerous.

1 Zaaki (Bet Now: $1.60) looks the one to beat. He really came of age as a star in this race last year when making an absolute mess of them. Tried his guts out in the Queen Elizabeth but couldn’t quite withstand finale of Think It Over and the brilliance of Nash Rawiller. He was only third up, so you’d like to think has petrol left in the tank.

3 Ayrton (Bet Now: $6.00) is the boom horse on the up. Price/Kent trained four year old that resumed in the Victoria Handicap where he was smashed late in betting and thanks to a peach from J Kah, he dashed late when clear and won well with something in hand. Unknown at the trip but he relaxes in the run and has change up speed, so the 1800m should be fine.

13 Hungry Heart (Bet Now: $20.00) looks to be ticking along nicely, especially on a firmer deck. Fresh legs when racing in the All Aged and yes, was never a threat, but her finale was more than sound I thought. Fitter, up in trip and back on a firmer surface, an improved showing is on the cards.

12 Mass Destruction (Bet Now: $10.00) for me in the get out for Tony Gollan. Resumed two weeks back at Doomben where he got snagged back from the wide gate. Never really a threat but liked the way he found the line behind Centrefire. Gate one, if the inside is okay, he’ll do me.

6 Shooting For Gold (Bet Now: $2.50) will give this a shake. Resumed three weeks ago over 1000m at Eagle Farm and he produced an electric finale from the back when second to impressive winner Je Suis Belle. He has won at 1200m before so that should be no issue and stable is firing.

10 Simply Fly (Bet Now: $14.00) is another at odds I could speck. He is three weeks between runs since racing in the Je Suis Belle race mentioned above where he got a mile out of his ground but was good late to finish fourth. Like him up to 1200m, he swims and is a winner at the track.

BEST BET: Race Eight Number 1 Zaaki

NEXT BEST: Race Six Number 1 Gypsy Goddess

LONG SHOT: Race Seven Number 11 Four Moves Ahead
