5/9/2026 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Belmont, Farnley Stakes day

Belmont will conduct an eight race program on Saturday, headlined by the Farnley Stakes (1400m). The weather is fine, the track is soft (5) and the rail is out eight metres for the entire circuit.

3 Marcos (Bet Now: $4.40) for me. He ran over 1200m last Wednesday here where he was the winner when he presented but dipped badly halfway down the straight and no doubt it cost him the win when second. Like him up in trip, he’s a clear top seed.

2 Gaintree (Bet Now: $2.00) steps up to 1400m after a first up win over 1200m here two weeks ago, landing on speed and she found plenty under pressure to fend them off and get the job done. Good racing style, good upside, she appeals.

4 Rogue Ruler (Bet Now: $13.00) ran third to Gaintree in the race mentioned above. He landed in a decent spot just off speed and tried hard but couldn’t quite get there. Better for the run, kind map once again, he is in the mix.

1 Espresso Time (Bet Now: $3.60) has been dynamic in recent starts and clearly appeals. He has won two on the bounce, the latest being last Wednesday at this track/distance when leading throughout and giving nothing else a look in. Looks the leader again and takes running down.

3 Our Rocky Bay (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes back to 1200m after racing over 1400m last Wednesday. He got into a decent spot in transit and tried hard but just couldn’t quite get there. He’ll be strong late and hopefully can settle near the front.

2 Go Go Grommet (Bet Now: $15.00) ran over 1000m here two weeks back where he just found them a bit sharp and was never really a factor behind Dawn Dancer. Like him back up in trip and his best is good enough to be dangerous.

6 Mind Field (Bet Now: $4.80) looks a nice horse for Ryan Hill that resumes. He is first up, having not raced since July 1 when a winner over 1400m here when giving his rivals a start and a beating. Looks a horse on the up, he has residual fitness and a recent trial was quite good.

2 God’s Gate (Bet Now: $3.40) comes back to 1200m after racing last Saturday over 1300m here, sitting near the speed and tried hard but just couldn’t quite get there when a close up third to Main Act. Back to 1200m is fine, he commands respect.

3 Mardusa (Bet Now: $10.00) is four weeks between runs since racing over 1400m here when off speed and struggled on the testing ground behind Cinque Steele. Hit and miss but his best is certainly good enough to threaten.

5 Niccimota (Bet Now: $2.80) is the straight bat play. He ran over this track/distance two weeks ago where he landed on speed and did try hard but just couldn’t quite see it through when third to the in form Dawn Dancer. Hard fit, good racing style, she appeals.

4 Swingman (Bet Now: $4.00) is three weeks between runs since racing at this track/distance when on speed and was there to win but just felt the pinch late behind Ginnivan. He lands near the front and will give his all.

1 Devine Belief (Bet Now: $13.00) is a David Harrison trained mare that resumes. This girl is first up, having not raced since Dec 6 at Ascot when down the track behind Black Ora. She is a mare who can sprint well fresh and her trial was more than encouraging.

1 Yes I Know (Bet Now: $3.10) looks the winner. He ran last Saturday here and I thought was the winner when he presented but just found The Crimson Pirate a fraction too good in the run to the line. Back to a 1MW race, despite the weight, he is a clear top seed.

2 Statewide (Bet Now: $31.00) was never a factor behind The Crimson Pirate in the race mentioned above from last Saturday. He got back to near last in the run and failed to come on when down the track. Maps more ideally, he’s dangerous.

4 Belle Journee (Bet Now: $126.00) ran two weeks back at this track/distance where she got into a decent spot in transit and did try hard but just felt the pinch late in the piece. Firmer deck, kind map, she’s a knockout hope.

6 Deel Her In (Bet Now: $4.80) is knocking on the door for Trevor Andrews and is one of the hardest to beat after a second over 1300m here two weeks ago, working home with real purpose late in the piece behind Common Touch. Like her up in trip, can settle closer, takes beating.

5 Silent Diva (Bet Now: $3.00) is on the seven day back up for Team Williams after a track/distance win last Saturday, sitting off speed before coming with a well timed run to score. Confidence is up for her, she can go on with it.

4 Brave Spirit (Bet Now: $23.00) steps up to 1400m after racing over 1200m two weeks back here when just off speed and tried hard when third to Lord Shiva. Not sure I could back him to win but is a must for exotics.

1 Ginger Baker (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks a good thing. He ran two weeks ago in the Idyllic Prince when off speed and worked home with purpose I thought when third to King Of Light. That form is A1 and rising to 1400m…I think good luck beating him.

3 Too Dardy (Bet Now: $5.50) comes back to 1400m from the mile three weeks ago when taking out the Blue Spec, finishing best from off speed to score. He’s in career best form at the moment, he commands respect.

7 Multinational (Bet Now: $26.00) jumps straight to 1400m after resuming last Saturday over 1000m in the Jolly Beggar, just finding them a bit sharp. Much better set up here and with his racing style, he’ll give himself every chance.

1 Snazzler (Bet Now: $16.00) each way for me in the get out. He ran over the mile last Saturday, attempting to lead throughout but just found them a bit sharp late behind The Crimson Pirate. Like the rise in trip for him and with a more patient steer, I think he’ll be more effective.

2 Rommeo (Bet Now: $19.00) comes back to 2100m after racing over 2200m two weeks ago, getting off speed and seemingly had his chance but had to settle for a fourth to With Discretion. Tricky gate, he is one of the leading contenders.

13 Miss Veuve (Bet Now: $4.20) is in the mix after racing over 2200m last Thursday at Northam when off speed and whacked late without threatening when fourth. Interesting that Pike is booked, so you’ll cop unders, but she is a threat.

NEXT BEST: Race Five Number 1 Yes I Know

LONG SHOT: Race Eight Number 1 Snazzler
