On a night where Japanese gallopers came to the fore, it was Equinox who stole the show with a stunning victory in the Group One Dubai Sheema Classic. The four-year-old entire led all the way in the 2410m contest, winning by three-and-a-half lengths under Melbourne Cup-winning jockey Christophe Lemaire.
Equinox is now the favourite at $7 with betr for the prestigious G1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe in October, a race that no Japanese galloper has ever won before.
His compatriot Win Marilyn finished sixth with top Australian jockey Damian Lane in the saddle.
