Staged this Saturday at Ascot Racecourse in England, the Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup, Katie partners Hugh Bowman of Australia and Karis Teetan of Mauritius in the Rest of The World team.
Stepping out in Race 1, the Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup Dash over 5 furlongs, Katie in the black and yellow ROIW silks partners the James Evans-trained Dream Composer, carrying 9st 5lb.
Priced at $8 with Australia-wide betting agencies, Katie and Dream Composer will jump from Barrier 8 of the 10 runners, and it is the first of her five rides across an exciting six-race programme.
Onto the Shergar Cup Challenge over 1m4f, Katie rides the $17 chance Agard’s Captain for former South African Dylan Cunha, and having won the Great Metropolitan at Epsom, jumps from Gate 2.
Next, in Race 4, the Shergar Cup Sprint over 6 furlongs, she is on the $15 pick Dyonisos for Ian Williams, and follows with the Shergar Cup Classic of 1m4f on the Scott Dixon-trained Canvas, priced at $10.
Rounding out Shergar Cup Day 2025, Katie Davis has her best ride of the programme on the $5.50 second favourite Miss Impromptu for Andrew Balding in the Shergar Cup Mile, having won twice this year.
And with Katie Davis starring in the hit Netflix series ‘Race for the Crown,’ she also competed in the International Jockeys Challenge in Saudi Arabia earlier this year.
To date in 2025, she has a healthy 10% winner-to-runner ratio, winning 29 races with her mounts earning over $2m, while her lifetime wins total 334 races with lifetime stakes of $13.7m.
Licensed in 2013, and partnering Next Best Thing to win the Conniver Stakes as her first stakes win on 18 March 2017 at Laurel Park, Katie won on her first race ride on 14 September 2008 at Laurel Park.
Born in Idaho and raised in Saratoga, the 33-year-old Katie is the daughter of former jockey Robbie Davis who won 3,382 races from 1981 to 2002 and today trains a small string of runners.
With her sister Jackie and brother Dylan also being professional jockeys, she married fellow jockey Trevor McCarthy in December 2020, who is also a son of a jockey.
Accompanying Katie for the first time is Delphine Santiago from France on the Europe team, with 2023 Shergar Cup winners Hollie Doyle and former Ladies Team hoop Joanna Mason returning.
Having won the coveted Gavache d’Or on a record 11 occasions, Delphine Santiago joins Per-Anders Gråberg of Sweden and Dario Di Tocco from Italy in the Europe team.
Fresh from success at the International Challenge in Saudi Arabia, Joanna Mason rides alongside Hollie Doyle and Melbourne Cup hero Robbie Dolan in the Great Britain and Ireland team.
Rounding out the Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup challenge is the newly formed Asia team of Suraj Narredu from India and both Ryusei Sakai and Mirai Iwata representing Japan.
