A bumper ten race card has been assembled for Sha Tin on Sunday, where it is International Day, one of the great race days on the world racing calendar.

Hong Kong Cup 🏆: View the Field and Odds for the Hong Kong Cup

He’ll need luck from the gate but I am convinced that 3 Horsesain Bolt (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is going well. Ran over this track/distance three weeks ago where he was dragged back from the wide gate under J Mac and while he was never a threat, I liked the way he finished his race off. Hopefully can get three/four wide cover, a drag into the race, he’ll be strong late.

1 Circuit Mighty (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a last start track/distance winner so he commands respect, especially with Zac sticking. That win came three weeks ago at this track/distance where he was ridden with intent and the end result was a dominant win. Should slide across comfortably and from there, take beating.

Back to 1400m I do like for 2 Wide Blue Wonder (Bet Now:  $SP.00). He ran over the mile here five weeks back where he was near last in the run and spotted those in front a decent start but was good late in the piece. Moved well in a tick over trial and you can’t go wrong backing a B Shinn horse at the moment.

8 Nicetobemet (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks a really nice horse. On debut for Frankie Lor and gets Zac to steer. He trialled a couple of weeks ago at Happy Valley when back off the speed before slicing his way through the field with change up speed and let down with purpose to win the trial. Looks smart and confident he can make a winning debut.

All you can do is win and that is what 2 Mighty Stride (Bet Now:  $SP.00) did on debut. That debut win came three weeks ago at this track/distance where he drew tricky but managed to get into a decent spot under Barzalona and in a driving finish, was able to finish best. Looks a horse with good talent and Lemaire is a world class jockey.

3 Regency Bo Bo (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has been a ripper for a few seasons and is holding his form pretty well. Ran over 1200m here last time out where he got back to near last in the run and rocketed to the line late when second to Untold Riches. Gets a big upgrade with Shinn replacing Poon and he can settle much closer in the run.

1200m is on the short side for 3 Sinba (Bet Now:  $SP.00) but I was a fan of his in Sydney and he’s trialled too well to ignore. Has to be an each way speck. I would say he has been purchased with the Derby in mind so whatever he does here, he will improve on, but he’s moved with purpose in several trials to get ready and he will be strong late.

4 Victor The Winner (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has done little wrong in a three start career and commands respect. He has won two of his three career outings, with an unplaced effort in between wins. Last start effort was a strong all the way winner over this track/distance where he was able to fend off Golden Express, who looks a moral later in the program. If he leads and gets control, he’ll take running down with J Mac sticking.

9 Science Patch (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has done little wrong this time in. Ran third to Victor The Winner in the race mentioned above from three weeks back. He seemed to have every chance in the run but was simply no match for the promising winner. Tricky draw to overcome, but is very genuine.

This race, IMO, is crying out for fresh blood and 10 Stone Age (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is indeed that. Aidan O’Brien trained galloper that has been a jet setter this season and run really well. Far from disgraced behind Bay Bridge in the Champions Stakes at Ascot, he ran a beauty in the Breeders Cup Turf Classic in the US. If gate one is used to advantage, he’ll take beating.

3 Glory Vase (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is the proven big time performer in this race and is clearly one of the hardest to beat for mine. He’s probably not going as well as he was this time last year but he’s looked to work well during the week, Moreira back on and this race is on the weaker side as a whole.

5 Senor Toba (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is comfortably the best 2400m horse in Hong Kong and will be strong late if this becomes a slog. He was excellent behind Romantic Warrior last time over 2000m and now getting to his preferred trip, he’s a must for multiples.

I’m really keen on 6 Naran Huleg (Bet Now:  $SP.00) running well here for Japan. He ran third to Gendarme in the Sprinters Stakes at Nakayama last time and was enormous after being a mile back in the run. I can see a stack of early pressure here, so he will sit off it and launch at these late. Great each way gamble.

4 Lucky Sweynesse (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is the pick of the locals and has to be respected. He got a 12/10 from Purton to win the Jockey Club Sprint, slicing his way through the field from a wide gate to win impressively. Maps to get a suck run and prove hard to beat.

5 Super Wealthy (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is one that could pinch a first four spot. I was keen on him running well last time in the Jockey Club Sprint but he was terrible. Post race he was found to have had blood in the trachea, so a clear excuse. At his best, he can measure up for sure.

3 Sweet Encounter (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has a bit on these IMO. Outstanding from the back over 1400m here two back before going to the mile where Zac jumped on, he found the front, got control and it was essentially a barrier trial, bolting up. Lands in a plum spot from the gate…good luck beating him.

4 Woodfire Bro (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes back to the mile which I find interesting. Potential Derby horse? Dominant on speed win over 2000m here last time, getting a peach from Leung and gapped his rivals in a great performance. If this becomes a sit/sprint, doubt he can threaten to win, but he will be strong late.

10 Looking Cool (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is that can pinch a first four spot. He was five weeks between runs when racing two weeks back at this track/distance where he did a little bit of work from a tricky gate and that early burn just told late. Should get a much more economical run and his best can see him fill a place.

To me the market is too focused on Golden Sixty and purely from a price angle, I’m risking him. The each way bet for me is 4 Schnell Meister (Bet Now:  $SP.00). Just found them too sharp in the Sprinters Stakes before going to the Mile Championship and he was very good late despite getting held up. If the inside gate is used to advantage, I think he will only run well.

Given it was a barrier trial for this race, you can understand the slow tempo Purton set on 2 California Spangle (Bet Now:  $SP.00) in the Jockey Club Mile. But on face value, he slaughtered it. He went far too slow and it just set up perfect for Golden Sixty, who only just got there. Grand Final, expecting a much more aggressive front running steer and if that eventuates, he’ll take beating.

Take away the top few and this race is thin so you can certainly include 7 Laws Of Indices (Bet Now:  $SP.00) in exotics. He is yet to win a race in Australia but he had a brilliant prep in the Spring. Gets good ground, good tempo, J Mac back on, he can fill a first four spot without shocking.

3 Jack D’Or (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has proven himself to be an on speed beast at 2000m in Japan and that’s good enough for me here. He tried his guts out last time in the Tenno Sho but couldn’t quite pick up the tear away leader and eventual winner. He should get run of the race here and prove hard to run down.

2 Romantic Warrior (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is the pick of the locals and has J Mac, so he has a bit going for him. Thought it was an arrogant return when winning the Jockey Club Cup last time under J Mac, who rode him like he was the best horse and duly was. Clearly more depth here but set for the race and has the worlds best rider.

7 Tourbillon Diamond (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has won up to 2200m and has placed at 2400m so a hard 2000m should be no issue for him. He chased Romantic Warrior last time out in the race mentioned above and while he was safely held, he still ran very well. Knockout chance if they overdo it.

10 Golden Express (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks the moral/good thing on the card. Hong Kong debut came over 1200m here three weeks ago and gee he was an eye catcher, rocketing to the line late when second to Victor The Winner. Fitter, up to 1400m and with clear air earlier, I think he’ll make a statement and stamp himself a Group horse of the future.

6 Voyage Bubble (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a tick over four weeks between runs since resuming at this track/distance where he was on speed throughout and gave a strong kick. Just couldn’t quite finish the job when third to Stunning Impact. Liked the tick over trial to get ready for this and gets Moreira aboard.

5 Thesis (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a very interesting runner. Former UK runner that makes his Hong Kong debut for Richard Gibson. He showed good promise when racing in the UK, winning at Royal Ascot. The two trials have been so so, but Ryan Moore rode him at Royal Ascot and he is riding for the Hong Kong debut.

1 The Golden Scenery (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is worth an each way bet for me in the get out. He ran four weeks ago in the Panasonic Cup and he was excellent from last on the turn to finish a close up fourth to Beluga. Loved the way he trialled behind Eason and any hint of tempo, he’ll sit off it and launch late.

2 Lucky With You (Bet Now:  $SP.00) commands respect. He ran over 1200m here three weeks ago and worked to the line with purpose in the straight when a narrow third to Oriental Smoke. Interesting he gets to 1400m but should get a good run in transit and love the booking of Hugh Bowman.

11 Eason (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is capable with his best. Has been kept on ice, having not raced since October 23 at Sha Tin where he copped interference and that took away something from his finale behind The Irishman. Cruised on speed when winning a tick over trial and with luck from the wide gate, he’ll run a positive race.

BEST BET: Race Nine Number 10 Golden Express

NEXT BEST: Race Six Number 3 Sweet Encounter

LONG SHOT: Race Five Number 6 Naran Huleg
